A Benchmade 172.
I have always wanted one of these.

I've desired a hawk/prybar but my choices seem pretty limited for this combo. I had been looking at the Gerber Downrange but the price seemed a bit high for the materials used.

I found the BM 172 for under $240 and decided to go for it. I see they changed the steel to 4140, recontoured the handle scales, and changed the sheath design. These sounded like improvements over the original.

Who has one? Do you like it?

Hopefully this won't be the gateway towards $500 hawks. Knives are expensive enough.

Did yours come with any type of an edge on it? I work at a knife shop part time and the ones we've gotten in have had absolutely no edge on them whatsoever.

I forgot to mention that it is still inbound....

I doubt that it will have much of an edge on it. I think breaching hawks aren't designed to have a sharp edge like an ax or hatchet.
