When my wife and I got married she didn't understand why I liked knives. I bought her a Peanut to tote in her purse and she has used it and liked it but I wanted to get her a Spyderco and something that she could easily operate.

I was going to get a pink squeak for myself and to gift but then found out they don't lock. Still a nice knife if you don't mind slip joint style.

The Chicago is close to the same knife, but it has a liner lock on it. If you were getting it for the color, then yeah the Squeak comes in Pink where the Chicago doesn't.

Yeah was for color. I wanted a pink for my X gf. Which actually might still do because I don't think she will care about the lock that much and probably just needs cutting performance.

At the same time just two nights ago while making a fishing trap a cheap Chinese liner lock broke on me and gave me a nasty bloody cut. And I knew the lock was at its failure point but was being stupid and trying to baby my good knives which had I used would have probably avoided the accident.

I don't want to gift it and she gets cut by not having a lock. Even when you know there is no lock I see many people using non locking knives doing more action then downward slicing and that's when your taking risk.

My accident came from the lock giving out while trying to poke a hole in a soda bottle cap. Just got lucky it didn't need medical attention but it was a bad cut.

I have another one of their non locking models and I think it's great. No lock doesn't bother me with the design. She currently uses a slip joint with no issue.

Been thinking for a while about getting my wife either a Delica or Dragonfly. But she is very accident prone, and don't know that I feel safe with her even using a locking knife lol. If you're after the color you could spend a bit more and get a pink Native5 LW

I thought about the native but I want a non locking knife. She's already using a slip joint and the squeak is perfect in size for her. Not to mention legal in all states.

I bought one for my sister for Christmas, '14. She loves the thing, and I don't think anyone will have any issue with it closing on them. You're kind of forced to use the choil, which acts as your 'lock.' It's pretty stiff, too. She'll be just fine once she figures out exactly how it operates.

Very cool, @LeathermanGX!

I think I may get my two daughters Dragonfly's possibly. :)

My wife had a larger knife of another brand, but it came open in her purse, so I had to buy her another knife. That one came open when she dropped it so she never trusted it and it was bigger than she wanted. She saw my orange Dragonfly and went "oooo I love it." So, she had my DF as her regular knife. Then, she told Sal she wanted one in Purple and he responded, "I'll see what I can do." So, now she has a purple DF as well. She loves those Spyderco DF's. They fit in her almost non-existent pockets and in her tiny purses.

My daughter and I have a matching Native

That's awesome. I hope my daughter has my passion for knives. She was born in march and "bought" me a endura 4 for my first Father's Day. I hope to pass it down to her. The matching knives is a great idea too. She's only 5 months lol

Bought my fiancée a dragonfly at the beginning of the year.
She carries it in her purse and is surprised how much she uses it. :D:thumbup:

I gave my girlfriend my brown Delica, it matches well with a lot of her accessories like her purses etc...it's funny since so many see brown/tan as "tactical" but it's also neutral and in turn matches with many things.
