Forging marks on the flats
Tapered tang
Distal taper on the blade

I've learned to avoid the makers for sale section, it's really saved me some money. Now I don't go unless I've decided that I will be buying a knife.

hahaha, can you teach me that skill. I need a 12 step program for knives :)

congrats John.... i was also checking that one out too....:D Gerry makes some really nice knives and they seem to be getting better and better lately...:)

Ya bum! :D

I not only check out that forum, I check for Gerry's knives since getting one of his larger models.
I think that little guy would have been mine this time but you beat me fair and square.

Enjoy it!

I decided it was time to let the moths out of my wallet and finally buy something for myself! I`m surprised I did not see it sooner, I`m on the forums at 3 am each day, but must have missed it!

Looks like a stout little knife.
Let us know how the 5160 compares to the steels you like to use, please.

I love Gerry's work, he hasn't been forging knives all that long but really seems to have the gift and has made some awesome blades !!!

Found an old USA made Collins hatchet today when my wife and I were out and about. Gave $6 for it in pretty decent shape. I`ll post a pic tomorrow.
