I bought too many knives recently, but my collection got much cooler!

I had a bit of a financial windfall a few weeks ago, which precipitated a knife spending spree. Things got out of hand. I was perfectly happy with my collection, and I did not NEED any more knives, but here I am, with five new additions. I suspect I will have to sell one of the Honey Badgers to appease my wife, but if I wait long enough, she might just forget :D

It seems like the knife companies I like are constantly releasing new models that I cannot resist. This is either a great or terrible time to be a knife enthusiast, depending on how you look at it, and how deep your pockets are!

Nice line up. Looks like you need a quality traditional knife to round out the group.

Nice taste, those are all sick. If I had to sell one it would be the flipper.

Thanks. I have actually been considering a Benchmade Proper. It might be my gateway drug into traditionals.

It's never a question of "need".

What is the draw to the Proper?
It is a slip joint, but it isn't a true "traditional" in the way that it doesn't have a "pattern" to it.

I prefer ergonomics and comfort over most other options when it comes to traditionals. Due to this, I naturally gravitate towards the Sowbelly, Saddlehorn, some Dogleg trappers and Gun Stocks as well as some Sodbusters, and single bladed Jacks and Barlows.

I have a few that I like, but I would suggest looking at the Lionsteel Shuffler. M390, a bunch of handle materials. A traditional pattern with a modern twist and alloy.

If you don't take to that, look up the Viper EZ Open. Spear Blade in M390, standoffs, a few handle materials, and no spring, though it does have a 3 position detent system (open, half, closed).

Look at the early reserve section for CollectorKnives for further info.

Thanks for the suggestions. I admittedly know nothing about traditionals, and as such was considering the Proper on name recognition alone. Lionsteel makes great knives, so I will check out the Shuffler for sure!

Edit to add: The Shuffler is gorgeous! Very well priced too. That is now at the top of my list!

I got in on the first round of Lionsteel Roundheads and they are nice...kind of a "modern" traditional folder with a M390 blade. Those were my first slip joints purchased in almost 40 years and I have no regrets buying the rams horn and cf versions.
