Hi everyone, I just bought a browning field x-treme knife off ebay.... its the tanto one, looks exactly like a TOPS Storm Rider model...

I did this blind, without researching or reading up on it.. there was no time left on that auction to do so..:)

Anyone can tell me more about this knife??

I know it's 1095 steel and about 5.75 in long (blade) but besides that I know very little else.. is it any good??

I planning to use it as a outdoors utility and tactical, if necessary kind of knife..

Don't know much about the Browning brand as well..

this browning series was made by tops. i dont believe they are sold under the browning name anymore. i have a friend who has one, not sure which model, but with about a 5 inch blade. very stout and tough, he loves it.

if you like the tops brand you will be happy. i have the browning tracker style on the way. it will be my first tops/browning.

the ones i have handled are very large, large grips, thick blades, and very sharp. the tool steel seems to take a very good edge. i dont have big hands, but have always liked the look of the tops/brownings, and couldnt pass up the deal i got on the tracker style.

lets keep each other posted when we get our knives. i would be curious to see how yours performs, and i will let you know about mine.

mm.. sounds good, but am a bit concerned now cos I got small hands...:) will see how mine goes.. don't really have much to cut around the house though...

I also have a Sharpmaker coming.. lets see if I can sharpen the tanto enought to do the unsupported paper tubing cut....:)
