I bow to flint knappers

I just got some obsidian.

I am a stone sculptor so I am pretty comfortable with natural materials. but let me say I am in awe of some of the control I have seen in flint and obsidian. I need to work more at it but all I can do is a great shard.

If it wasn't for the heat treat I think flint knapping is harder than steel knife making.

Youre telling me! Ive tried working obsidian, to no noticable quality of the product. Although I can break a tip with the best of them! My hat is off as well. NW
