I Broke My Agency

Hi guys. I ordered a SOG Agency from AG Russell last week and it arrived Monday. I already have a TiNi Agency so I ordered the Satin finish model. Long story short, last night I accidentally dropped it while in the sheath on my tile floor and the butt cap snapped right off. It fell approximately 3 feet and landed butt first.

AG Russell has a 14 day return policy so I called them this morning and arranged to have it exchanged for thier Field Knife 2. I mailed it back this afternoon.

I got rid of it so fast that I forgot to get any pics of the damage. However, from what I can tell the metal in the grip that connects to the butt cap simply snapped in half. I took a closer look and it appeared to be a cast piece of metal. I was really disappointed and I really hope that my other older SOGs are not susceptible to this. I have a S1 Bowie, Trident S2 Bowie, Trident 2.0, Recon Bowie, Scuba/Demo, Tech Bowie, TiNi Agency and the Super Bowie

Has anyone else experienced this? :confused:

holy cow! is this even possible??!
wow, guess it can't be used as an expedient hammering tool then.
 
It can.
But just for one blow...it seems.

Honestly, this is some serious s****.
Its a tool, not a chinese vase. Its supposed to withstand some use ate least and not snap like this...
 
That should not have happened and it sounds like there might have been a weak point at the butt cap that was existing and then when it got dropped the butt cap popped off. You did the right thing in returning it but that is not supposed to happen and they are designed to be more durable than that.

Don't worry about your other knives having the same problem they are very durable and that was a fluke occurrence.
