I broke my favorite knife

i managed to snap the tip off of my trusy buck strider spear point today. i was sitting on the john pondering life so i decided to shut the door and try to pry it open at the hinge. its a pos anyway. so i did that and pieces of door start flying off, but i must have hit a screw because now the tip of my knife is in my bathroom door. honestly of all the true necesarry hard use applications i've used this damn thing for, i have to break it while taking a ****. i am really angry at myself. hopefully the strider guys can grind it or something. im gonna send it in with 10 bucks and pray.:grumpy:
 
Hope it turns out right. How much of the tip came off?

I bought my B/S spearpoint to see if I really do need a hard-use folder. If it ever fails to perform as I expect... then I'll go for a real Strider.
 
i dont have a ruler handy but i'd say no longer then 1/16 of an inch. striders are serious. i have a db, and i've beaten the **** out of it, never chipped it. i really like the tanto tips, this is the first strider i've had in spearpoint, and i guess i really need to stick with the tanto's because i use my knives as multi tools.

Pardon me for snickering a bit, but my mind's eye paints an amusing picture of this.:D Did you stuck your B/S in the bathroom door as a result of pondering life? Is that to say life for you is a little sh*tty right now in general, or was it just at the moment? And aren't you supposed to shut the door BEFORE you take a poop? :confused: ;)

I'm sorry about your knife. Really. I broke the tip off one of mine too once, though not in a situation even remotely similar. I would send it back to Buck for regrinding, btw. Take care. :)
 
Regrinding the tip shouldn't be a problem. Both Schrade and Buck (as well as Hartsfield) have done it for me at no cost and it looked as good as new. Good luck. :)
 
The regrind should be alright, since the tip is so hidden inside of the scales anyway, when it's closed.

Was yours ATS-34? I had some brittleness in my edge when I sharpened it at ~42 degrees included.

I'm also rethinking my spearpoint purchase, maybe I should have gotten a tanto. I was thinking that a spearpoint would be more useful for accurate penetration and slicing, but hell, I'm not going to be using this thing to whittle toothpicks... :)

life was ****** for me i just broke up with my girlfriend. i dont have any knife magazines. normally i just play with my knives. and now mine is missing the tip. oh well.
 
Ah, sorry to hear about the breakup. I'm still dealing with one that happened half a year ago, but I'm getting better day by day.

But look at it this way, without a gf, you can spend all your money on your knife addiction! I'm enjoying it quite a bit, but I don't know how hard it'll be to leave BF (BladeForums) and trying to get a new GF :).

As for the Buck/Strider..

My nephew blew the tip off his like the first day he had it..He wasn't doing anything special,, and just noticed it gone..Freaked him out and pi$$ed him off all in one shot...

It was the Tanto model..Needs a regrind anyway,, that thing is wicked too thick...

....for the tongue-in-cheek stuff. I know that losing your gal can suck big time. Get that knife fixed, and next time use it, rather than just fiddling with it. On top of that, go out and buy yourself ANOTHER knife. Works for me! ;)

As for the love life....Just chill. It'll work out.

I hope you didn't do something silly like throw away her number... if you did, let me suggest a good use for that broken Strider... it involves your wrists...LOL

Just remember, the cuts have to open the veins all the way to the arm, not just a 90 degrees at the wrist! ;) *JK*

Talkiing about points... I was playing with a cheapo Jaguar butterfly and I throwed it to the Sunday newspapers on the floor and dunno what went wrong but now the tip is almost pointing to the handle :(

lol funny you say that mutt. i did throw the number away being the good boyfreind I was. oh well. if you read my post over in W&C you'll see what I did to get over her.:)
 
The police showed up at the accident scene... so get try to get an accident report. This will have the Driver's name and addresses. Then, try the directory, or if you want to be cool, have a dozen roses and a "get well" card delivered.

no way dude shes going to think im a stalker or something. plus she might have a ****ing boyfriend, who knows. id just feel too wierd
