I was opening a package with my pm2 and i think it hit something and a the tip broke off how much will this cost ne to get repaired?

Im also willing to trade if i like your offer more than a repair(ill still get it fixed first) although i got rid of clips long ago for personal preference

Would you mind posting a pic? Depending on how much you broke off, it might be quite easy to fix.

Use an online picture hosting site (I use photobucket). Upload your picture there then once you have done that click on the share links button and copy the IMG code and paste it here in a post.

Clear as mud? Hope it helps.

Son dropped his PM2 on tile floor, sent it to Spyderco. It came back perfect, just a little shorter. I think it was $25, the website has info.

The tip of your knife, had me scared for a moment, whew.
There's several here that do just that very thing, you may want to contact one of the folks here and see what they can do for you. Good luck, I hope it's fixable.

My real question is whats a cheaper fix BF or spydiw

you can fix that up like new in just a few minutes. Get yourself some 80, 150, and 220 sanpaper. Tape the 80 to a flat surface and sand the spine until you have removed enough metal to remove the damage. This is easy on the pm2 because the spine is perfectly flat. Finish it out with 150 and 220 and it will look brand new. $2 and 10-15 minutes. :)

If you don't want to fool with that the you can send it to Spyderco and they will sort you out but it really is an easy fix.

The broken tip is much smaller than the edge grind. A little normal sharpening will take care of that. I used my old Manix 2 to open a bunch of cardboard boxes and the tip wore down to less than that.

That's not that bad, like what's already been suggested, you may want to give it a shot yourself. That will cost you nothing as long as you take it nice and slow. Really don't know how much it would cost to get it resharpened with the tip fixed. Look in the Maintenance thread for suggestions.

I notice that you have a bad chip in the blade, too. So, take a little off the blade side (fixing the chip) while sharpening, then take a bit off the spin side, and you will have a like new blade. As Surfgringo mentioned, you can do this with sandpaper, or, if you have sharpening stones, these will be very helpful.

A broken tip is common and we all have to fix a knife now and again, if we actually use the knife.

I agree with... A light re profiling will bring it back to order. This is really the only feasible solution other than replacing the entire blade

Agree with the others - easy fix, try sharpening at first, then a little sanding. Or send it to Spyderco.
