i use the knife enough and i shouldn't let it bother me but i can't help but want to buy another one now. anyone else ever have this happen?

i'm obsessed now i'm trying to talk myself out of it and just cope but i don't know if i'll be able to
 
If its just a small chip you should be able to sharpen it out pretty easily.

I had that happen on one of my 7s when i pinged the tip off on a chainsaw bar.
 
It's definitely a user now. All the more reason to just give it a good workout daily.
Just use and enjoy it.
 
The tip on my 15 stays tipped. I have sharpened it out several times and then within a week or two it is tipped again. It is only about 1/3 to 1/2 of the sharpened edge so it is only noticible when you are really looking for it. The first time I was punching out the plastic punch-out on an electrical box and the second time I was opening a cardboard box with tons of tape on it. I have not kept track after that. Now I do not even sharpen it out any more.
