Good evening fellow porch dwellers,

I just , as many of you did, read a new thread by our friend John ( netguy1999) and noticed he left a rather large detail out of his story.

When John mentioned in passing that he had somehow started a knife collection without a Buck slippie I was certain I had one that would fix this oversite so I shipped one off to the great white north feeling that perhaps I had done a small part to right wrong in the knife universe and thank John for his kindness to me when I first wandered onto the porch. That should have been the end of this all but John being who he is did this!

I thank you John for this great gift. It was completely unnecessary and unexpected but I love it. It's my first Schatt and Morgan and my first swell center knife. What a treat to have added a knife and a friend!

Thank you Neal. Hey as for that Buck...it's a 301 and if it's that model you are hunting you will find them just like that (3 spring, sheeps opposite, flat ground) from 1989-1999. Hope this helps.

Hey Clay, a great exchange among friends, both kind gestures on each part:cool::thumbup:

Way to go, John and Clay! Nothing like bonding a friendship over a couple of wonderful knives!

Clay thanks! My memory must be playing tricks on me, it was definitely a 301, but he couldn't have purchased it in that time frame , as he had passed by '83. Well no matter, I do know it was a 301, with the sawn covers, and a hammer and knife shield(I think; was there an anvil too?), and it's the style that's more important to me than anything. The fact that you were sent that particular S&M is amusing to me, as I haven't seen much mention of it, but it caught my eye amonth or so ago when it came out(or I would guess that's when it came out ). Such a cool half-whit, ha!, with the sheepfoot main and that nice little curvy clip point. I looked at it in three different covers, but decided I couldn't justify it before Christmas. Cool knife is what I'm trying to spit out. You two are good.
Thanks, Neal

I love these type stories. This place is about friends sharing a common interest and you guys are a perfect example of this.

Good stuff all around. It's amazing how strong the bond of these "virtual friendships" can get.

This is the best place on the net :) Nice pattern
