So ive started my research on Handle & Blade Selection, Of course I like Mother of pearl and the Damascis style blades. But I realize there is lots to be learned, (Stablizing handle materials, and the list goes on. So I will probably bye three kits of the same & give two away. Ive got buckets of COPPER, BRASS, & ALUMINIUM. I see pommels, gaurds, and small spacers, but rarely see design inlays especially around handle perimeter? Ive been loosing sleep thinking about ways to inlay with not falling out over time? I also like the mosaic pins & would like to incorpirate designs but didnt think they all need to be pins. Ive also seen premade carved antler handles that are really cool? But their description refers to obsidian knifes? If I cheat by paying $$$$ for carvings I want steel! What colors go good with copper, Brass,? My thought was three knives, one green, red, and a white one for myself. I think they call it Micarta?
Any thoughts would be appreciated..

Hey there db, first off, WELCOME! Where are you located? There could be a maker next door, but without your location we can't help you find someone to help you out.

Kit knives are a great way to start, quick satisfaction, inexpensive, and customized. What form is your copper, brass and aluminum? If in sheet form, there are many things you can do, if it is in small scraps, casting might be best. Look up the work of Serge Panchenko, he uses lots of those metals, Tai Goo is another one, he even has a few tutorials on here and also his site.

Fill out your profile, make an introduction over in shop talk, someone will be happy to help you and possibly send you supplies, but you need to have your profile filled out. Read the sticky's in that forum, lots of good info there.

Welcome to your new addiction!
