I Can Tell We're Gonna Have Issues

So I joined BF right after Thanksgiving to do research for a new EDC folder. After purchasing a couple nice Spydercos and frequenting the site, about 2 weeks ago I decided to see what this "ESEE" subforum was all about when I noticed the home page was always riddled with new posts. After checking out the ESEE website and reading reviews and watching countless youtube videos, I was sold. Last week I decided to pull the trigger on a 3MIL, and the next day on a Black Izula. Both arrived today and I am blown away at the quality and overall feel of these knives.

My problem is this... before I ordered these knives I didn't "need" any more knives. Now I'm getting ready to order an ESEE-5 from TKC, and probably a 4 by the end of the week. Somebody please help!

If you've seen one you've seen them all, but these ones are MINE... and I didn't even cut myself while wrapping the Izula! If anyone has any advice or pictures on carry methods I'd appreciate it as I'd like to start carrying one or both of these in place of my spydies. I'm just having a hard time figuring out how to wear these concealed on a belt comfortably.

Appreciate the post and for using our knives. It's a nut house in this forum but most people like it. Stick around and post up some more. Glad to have you!

Izula fits fine in a front or back pocket -- no need to hang it on your belt.
you can also get a tek-clip (IMHO better than a tek-lock) and use that to set up either of those for horizontal carry.

thanks jeff. i must warn you though, one of my favorite things to do is throw high quality survival knives at trees :D actually searching through this forum and watching all the videos on youtube made me nostalgic of my old infantry days. its actually revived an interest to get outdoors again, and with my son just recently turning 3 in october i want to start camping with him next spring/summer.

i should clarify one thing since many of you are probably saying "what is this guy an idiot, he can't conceal an izula?" i carry a g19 on my belt every day, sometimes IWB and sometimes OWB, but the holsters basically take up my waist real estate from 3-5 o'clock. I tried playing around with the MOLLE lock on the izula sheath but when horizontal i couldn't find a good place to get it to lay relatively flat without protruding. yeah, i'm kind of scrawny. i'm trying to keep it out of my pocket if at all possible and neck carry would be an absolute last resort given my work uniform.

You will love the 5, when I first ordered it I was hesitant that itd be to much knife. But its a hell of a blade, I use it everyday to split wood for my stove. Butchered a lamb with it and some other animals, even cut and wrapped them, not once was it a hinderance.

You're dern tootin' we're going to have issues. Your photo caused me to order a 3MIL. :p

I kinda don't mind these kinds of issues though.

sorry about that. err... i mean... you'll be ok now that you've identified and admitted to your addiction.

on an update, my spyderco sage was left in my knife drawer today and i grabbed my izula to come with me to work. i threw on a make-shift 550 neck lanyard last night since i didn't have a suitable belt clip yet. it stayed on my neck all day and i was pleasantly surprised at how unnoticeable (is that a word?) and comfortable it was to wear. i made a few adjustments when i got home and now i think it will ride even better with easier access through the bottom of my shirt. at everyone's advice i also ordered 2 blade-tech klips today to play around with belt mounting.

also snapped a few pics in better lighting today, i'm no photographer but hopefully i can drag a few more addicts off the wagon along wtih me.

i hope they don't stay so pretty for long and get put to some good use.

To the OP: Don't worry too much about it -- once you have two or three (or five) of each model, then things will cool down a bit.

+1 to the ESEE addiction. This forum has got to be the best and most addictive, other than the sales section to find another ESEE knife to buy, which by the way is NOT easy because they sell with in minutes.... Already have a 5 and an Izula on order and already wanting a 3, 4, 6, and a Junglas ha ha. Then there's the lurking on the ESEE website and find out there's more than just knives.... Packs, survival kits, fire steel, etc. Which is great since my wife and I are expecting our first in March (a boy) and now I'm hoping he's going to be into outdoor sports so that gives me an excuse to get an ESEE knife for him ha ha. It'll just have to stay locked up till he's old enough

congrats on the baby boy. we have a boy and a girl and will be having our third in july. my advice is to buy all the toys you can now before he gets here and your priorities change :D

Thanks!! Yeah that's what my wife and I are doing now. I have a few more ESEE knives on my list then spending will have to be put on hold till after he's a little older. Or sell off some firearms and buy more knives....

The Izzy fits very nicely in a front pocket and doesn't "paint" too much. You can even get a smaller profile (than the factory plastic sheath) in kydex if so inclined. If you want belt or IWB carry, then you can let your imagination run wild...
