As of 10/11/07, I have not been able to add pics or use the vBcode controls when posting a new thread or editing a previous one. I had also lost my avatar picture at that time also.

I have since reloaded my avatar pic and it is fine now but still unable to use the vBcode controls.

Everything under my User CP is as it should be. The vB code says that it is "ON". I still have some room for adding pictures (of my alotted 5 mb). I have not done any updates to my computer to cause this. I can go to different forums and I can add pics and use the vBcode there ok. I have disabled my virus program and that does not help. I have disabled my Startup items and "things running in the background" - no difference. I am a computer troubleshooter by profession but I cannot figure this out.

Just wondering if it is something with just my user account? Obviously, others are posting pics and editing ok.

Any suggestions?

Thanks!

There are three different editors here. Sometimes people change to a different editor without intending to, or maybe the Net Demons do it when they're not looking.... Go to your User Control Panel, edit options, and scroll down to the bottom of the page. Even if you're still using the same editor you always used a different one might work better for you.

You have to enable javascript and allow popup windows or a lot of things won't work here. Don't worry, we don't have any popup ads.

What happens when you try to use vBulletin code or upload an attachment? You can put test posts in this thread.

Thanks for the suggestions guys!

Cougar - I had tried the different editors - no difference

markksr - I deleted my cookies - did a cold boot - and that fixed the problem so thanks for that suggestion

I feel a bit embarrassed now being I had not tried that before. For some reason, I didn't even think of it. Sometimes even the simplest things escape you.

You wouldn't believe some of the technical things I tried to try to fix this.

Well, I'm back up and running now so thanks again to both of you for your help and input!

Thanks for getting back to us. I didn't think of that either, and I still don't see how corrupted cookies could cause that. Was that the first time you rebooted since it started?

No, it wasn't the first time I rebooted the computer. I literally spent about 5 or 6 hours trying different fixes and "techy" things to try to clear this up to no avail. Like I said before, I didn't even think about something as simple as clearing out the cookies (which I do tend to do on a regular basis anyway but just hadn't gotten around to it this time). I also agree with you in that it seems funny that the "cookie" thing would fix it. But, hey, it worked so I'm happy. Maybe this will help someone else out as well in the future.
