I Can't Believe It! Lynn Little Was Right!

As most of you know, when Lynn Little gives me advice, the first thing I do is look around for flammable materials. They didn't knickname him "Oops" in high school for nothing.

He did tell me to put a tiny o-ring on the thumb stud of my AR. It seemed innocent and cheap enough, and most importantly, no flames, blow-torches, accelerants or primer-coil was required. I figured, hey, for 25 cents this just might work.

Well, believe it or not, Lynn was right! Okay, this makes the first time in over two decades, but every once in a while even a blind squirrel finds an acorn!

The action is easier on the thumb, the o-ring stays in place and after two days none of those red-hot warning signs has appeared. Lynn has a good idea, and more gems just might be offered. I'd just be careful if I were you, and I thank my stars I'm not.
 
I went and bought a few o-rings yesterday for my GB, and they work like a charm. I actually took the GB in the store so I could make sure of the fit.

Damn near couldn't get the knife away from the young man helping out - he was obviously impressed! Said he'd never seen one before. He asked who makes them. "Strider" I said. He says, "I just bought my dad a Cold Steel folder for $80. Your's must cost at least as much."

I didn't reply - but if he had looked up, he would have seen me grinning. :D
 
I like my GB much more with the o ring.
makes a great non-slip surface and keeps the stud from digging into my delicate little thumb!

I talked to Lynn on the phone last night and he was concerned that you might think this o-ring fix was HIS idea. I didn't mean to imply that. It's just that Lynn is the one who told me, and also gave me a good report.

But I stand by my initial impression. With Lynn, you have to be careful. As a journeyman inventor, some of his ideas just sound bizarre. Take his idea about 'chitlins in a bag' for that ever-on-the-go redneck. Another was the solar powered flashlight. And his concept of push-button digitally activated dynamite just had me scratching my head.

Just listen carefully. If he starts the conversation with "last night" and ends it with "incredible heat" you might want a second opinion.

You've got a point. In the early 90's, I came up with two fixes for a particular series of copier. One fix involved taping 6-8 dimes between the frame and the fuser. The other fix required 3-4 safety pins. Both fixes worked very well, but they looked a little odd.

I guess I got a deal at $.17 each, but I only have 1 GB as opposed to your 4! :(

(Got another AR and SnG pre-ordered though)
