I keep hearing about the comradery and generosity amongst the people that frequent the traditional part of blade forums, but i NEVER would have thought in a million years that i'd be part of it. I will describe exactly what happened, but in short, a knife of great personal value to me got stolen, and the most generous thoughtful person ever just sent me a new one, of the same sort.
I still cant believe it...i have been running around all day today like a maniac, people keep asking whats wrong with me
Many of you know him, Jim, aka Boggs, one of the most humble person\collector\knife nut, sent me a replacement great eastern #25 jack:thumbup:

How it happened:
Not too long ago I finished my schooling, and got my degree. The term was several months long, but only in the last week of that term, a guy i had seen several times but never spoken to approached me and asked me about my knife (i always have one in class, to use as a worry stone or clean my nails while the professor lectures). He seemed interested so i let him see it and told him how it was the only knife (or anything to be frank) that anyone had ever gifted me. A GEC #25 single blade. Anyway, it was the last day of school, a crisp sunny day, and i was rushing to fill in the last sentence on my exam, when the instructor called "times up". I packed up my stuff and set off to my car to go home. He caught up to me and we blabbered about the exam. The whole way there he kept asking to hang out sometime blah blah, and we swapped numbers. He was very sociable. All of a sudden he bumped into me, which was nothing out of the ordinary, but it was at this exact point that his demeanor did a whole 180. I didnt give it any thought, just that it was weird. All this time he wanted to meet up and hang out, but all of a sudden he was in the biggest hurry ever to get to his car and go home. So i said i understand, stuff happens, and we parted ways.

I got home, went to the kitchen to make food, reached in my watch pocket for my knife and my gut got that "roller-coaster" feeling. Where my knife had always been was now a void. It automatically hit me, and i had realized what happened.

This knife was gifted to me by a person that was like me struggling with money to pay for school, and simultaneously working full time. Thats what made it so painful. I havent had the heart to tell him yet. Losing a knife sucks but i could make due losing 20 without the same repercussion as this one.
Anyway, i had searched the web for a long time trying to find the same kind, but they were short runs and all of them are gone, so in desperation i asked Jim if he happened to have one for sale. He offered to give me it. One of the most generous events to date in my life.
I will post pics when i receive it; at the moment it feels like i've been reunited with a long lost friend.
Thanks Jim.
