I can't choose - they're both so cool

I've decided to get a small Sebenza, but I'm having a difficult time deciding on either regular or classic: on one hand I like the utilitarian design of both the blade and handle of the regular model, but on the other hand I also like the added 'pointiness' of the classic, along with its lighter weight (?).

Having physically handled neither, I'm not really in a place to judge their relative merits. So uh, what do you fellows reckon I should get?

Honestly......it is almost a coin toss unless you could handle them both before you purchased one. Some guys prefer the deeper finger groove on the Classic, while others prefer the style of the blade on the plain. You can be sure that either one you get, you most likely be pleased with. Good luck in your decision..it's a tuff one :)

Mike is absolutely correct. . . "It's a coin toss !"

But, personally. . .I have a sweet spot when it comes to the "Classic." The profile of the blade is sleeker and the handle ergonomics is just a hair better.

When making a choice between a regualar and Classic. . .you don't lose ! :D

This is just my personal preference, but I like everthing on the Classic except the shape of the handle. It may be more ergonomic, but the shape is not pleasing to my eye.

To echo what everyone else is saying, you can't go wrong with either.

If you held a gun to my head I would go with the Classic over the Standard. I think it has a classier look.

I have 2 of each and have on many occasions set them side by side to evaluate why one would be better than the other and they almost cancel each other out.

I think it's a deliberate attempt by CRK to get us to just buy all of them :D

I personally like the Classic better but thats just my 2 cents. I think that it looks just a little bit better than the regular and I like the shape of the blade just a little better.

FWIW -- a few days ago, went over to Muzzleup's place and took a gander at his new large classic. I have the large regular. So this may or may not apply to your thoughts about the smaller model.

I definitely prefer the pointier blade of the classic. But, at the rear of the upper side of the handle, where the scales angle down, that point is noticeably sharper on the classic than it is on the regular. When I first bought mine, I felt like that point was one of the most uncomfortable things I'd ever held. Now, that handle seems to fit my hand like a glove, and I don't even notice the "point" in my hand.

Don't know if that has any significance for you, or not. Despite the blade shape, I am very glad mine is the regular model.

I'd go with the Regular...so if you ever end up getting all three -- Large, Small, and Umfaan they will all match up. For a photo check out RGRAY's Zulu trio under my "Favorite Umfaan Pattern" thread a few doors down. It is a pretty sight.

Personally, I have a slight preference for the classic sebenza - i like their pointer blade styles a bit better than the regulars. I've got both styles and I can't find feel any handling differences between them. But that's just me - a knife is a very personal choice after all.

I figure most of us will probably end up getting a matched pair of large and small...

Thanks for all your responses. I've decided to go with classic - I think the deeper finger groove might make it easier to open the blade on the small. Were I getting a large, I'd go with regular.

Anyone know if CRK would remove the "Classic MM" etching on the clip side?
