I bought a RC-5 about 2 weeks ago and I am looking for another RAT. I will be using it for camping, hiking and fishing. I am down between a Izula and the RC-4. Any opinions on which one to buy next?

Welcome to my f#*in' world! I tried to start from bottom to top and bought an Izula two weeks ago and now I want all of them. Right now I'm savin' for an RC 3 MIL. RC5 and Izula seems like a good combo. Just my 2 cents.

Oh, welcome to the family!

I like the knives a whole lot and I plan on buying more! I will end up buying both of them but right now I only have the funds to pay for one of them.

Either one will serve you very well... I like the Izula as a combo with a larger blade (for me it is a TAK-1). Of course the RC-3 makes a great additional blade, and the RC-6, well just get two of each and and try allt he possible combo, then send me the ones left over :D

I'd say go for the Izula to cover the other end of the spectrum instead of going just a tad bit smaller. Then, in a couple weeks when you want to fill the gap, grab the RC4. :D

As I said: Welcome to my world! :D Which color Rc5 did ya get?

I went with the black with serrated edge on it. I wanted to see how it split wood yesterday and It worked great! It keep the edge and the only thing that happened was the finish started to rub and that's it. I will try and post some pictures of it latter on today.

K.S.F. is a good way to go,as advised. Also,as mentioned, the Izula would make a great addition to your 5.

Thanks for the link. I have looked there in the past for ordering the knife, now I need to decide if I should go with the kit or just the knife and the sheath. To many damn decisions when buying a knife! :D

I only bought the knife and sheath (cheap bastard :D) You can find parachord and cordlocks in a lot of places. The neat thing 'bout the kit is the molle lock it comes with, that can be really useful. The same with the ferro rod.... Had the same decision to make, I just flipped a coin :D

Definately the izula, it's thinner and smaller, you get better control over the blade for detailed work like skinning and prepping food.

i agree with the forum, the izula looks like your way to go. I'm thinking about getting the Izula w/ survival kit, now comes the decision of color... the party never stops when deciding on a RAT knife. when in doubt go with the manly-pink.

Oh, don't forget about the H.E.S.T knife too. you might be able to pick one up in some months.

maybe it'll come in manly-pink?

Definetly the Izula. Its a great compliment to any larger blade.
I would go with a kit, just for the extra goodies.

I love that blue/red Izula. I'd like to get a nice quality 3-4 inch knife for finer field work like skinning. Can anyone talk me into a rc 3/4 over a Fallkniven S1 or a Ranger Afghan?

I think it will be a black Izula with just the sheath. I am going to try and get it ordered it sometime this week.

Thanks for the help again guys!
