I have a sebenza that I carry about every day, but I looked down and realized that I was missing a screw. My back up knife is a para military, but I soon notice its missing a screw. I got home and called chris reeves for some screws and it was 2 minutes on the phone, then 2 days. Bam!i got my seb.back. The same time tried to call spyderco, but got no one.so I went on line and tried the customer service thing I guessed it went through. I got no e mail, or anything, the whole time I'm calling. I have left messages, and never got a return anything. After a while screws show up in the mail, yea! But they sent the wrong size screws. So for the last couple of days I've been calling, still yet to talk to anyone. Ive dealt with benchmade,CR,esee, and others and had zero problems. So far spyderco is far and away the worst customer service I've ever messed with.

I have had a TON of issues with the Chinese knives and screw issues. I have had the same luck with calling....I just email them now and wait a few days for a response. They get the screws out to me and all is good...just takes a while and the lack of a interpersonal communication is a little disappointing.

I've never had to call more than once, I always get someone.

Are you sure you're trying to reach the right person? (ie: extension)

You have to remember, Spyderco is a much smaller company than benchmade or Buck, etc. Their CS dept. is only a few people, so sometimes they are away/get backed up, etc. For me, they have always responded to my emails with a day, so I wouldn't let this represent them as a company..you rarely hear complaints like this.

I've never had a problem, just calling their toll-free number and asking for what I needed. Somebody is there and assists me always, during normal business hours.

Its not even that I don't get some one, it is that they return my call. I leave messages with name, number, an reason for the call. When I got the wrong screws it was over a week, and never got an email saying anything.

That's strange. I've called them plenty of times for orders and questions. Someone always picked up the phone as long as I called during business hours.

I had a screw that was stripped out on a Delica right out of the box. I sent an email off their site and got a reply a day or so later asking which variant of Delica so they sent the correct screws. Few days later I was all fixed up.

Sorry you've had poor luck with this. But it's not the norm from what I've read from others and my own experience.

I've yet to have to use Spyderco's service but a friend and fellow member here has. He had the Spyderco shield/badge fall out of his Centofante II twice to the best of my knowledge. He has contacted CS and has been sent a replacement both times. The knife has been in his rotation for 10 years so it isn't surprising that it was lost along its long life.

What was surprising is that Spyderco still provided a part for a knife that hasn't been made since 2000. and sent it out, no questions asked.

Transaction was done through e-mail and he never had to call.

Sorry you're having a tough time with this one. Hope it gets squared away soon.

Sorry your having a bad time with cs.. Charlynn...the gal in cs has hepled me

several times. I always call the toll free no. I have the best luck talking

to someone when they first open ..9am. which is 2 hrs later than EST.

I edited your quote to sum up the main points:
1) you tried to get a hold of Spyderco to get replacement screws
2) you didn't manage to talk to anyone, but got an email in
3) they sent out screws free of charge that ended up being the wrong ones (perhaps they sent you the screws for a Para 2 and you have a Para 1, or visa versa. An easy mistake to make).
4) you haven't been able to get a hold of anyone on the phone since (maybe you should try sending another email, as it worked the first time:rolleyes:).

So this is "far and away the worst customer service" you've ever had? You must live an exceedingly charmed life. Spyderco tried to take care of you and made a mistake. I've had way worse customer service experiences at restaurants, retail stores, and online, where they don't even attempt to fix the problem. Has their communication been stellar? Apparently not. But they tried to fix your problem by sending you the screws free of charge but accidentally sent the wrong ones. I'm sure another email would get you the right screws.

Chillax...
Everyone makes mistakes.. Including CRK.. I can vouch for that..
How about getting the wrong torsion bar 3 times in a row..lol..
