I have to bore you with the story first but I'll keep it short. I acquired a base Sebenza in a trade (frankly they really look like grey turds), so I sent it up to Chris Reeve's for some desperately needed cosmetics.

When they asked what I wanted to do, all I could come up with was a "concept", not an actual design. The concept was my airplane flying above the clouds or mountains with the sun shining it's rays in splendor. Here's their interpretation:

What do you think of this one of a kind? (note: The sun is an actual Citrine stone)

How can I carry this? There's just NO WAY -- but I want to so badly!

Finally, thanks to all the folks at CR for turning my ugly duckling into a princess!

To be honest, I still love the "plane-jain" Sebbie . . .

BUT THAT ONE IS BEAUTIFUL!

congrats to you on a wonderful knife, and good work, CRK!

(prediction: you will shortly be informed of the difference between "customized" and "custom"...

According to my dictionary:

Custom: Made to Order.

Customized: To make or alter to individual or personal specifications.

I believe my use of the word in this case is right on.

Sincerely,
BarnZ

How much was it to have the graphics added? I may have to have some added to mine. I have no idea what kind I would like to have though.

DROOL.......... That's really gorgeous. I like my plain large sebbie very much as well though, i think to truly enjoy a sebenza you have to use it, and i could never use that knife.
congrats, and crk did a great job

Tom,

It's killing me, I know what you're saying. Maybe I should quite collecting to avoid this anxiety!

By the way - while I've "got you" - I've been eyeing your TNT knives and would appreciate a quote one one with lots of holes (should be cheaper, right?) and of course Talonite or that meteorite material I've been seeing.

See, I'm hopeless!

Man that is one beautiful Sebenza and no it is not what is considered a custom knife.
(I was born in TN and live in GA, we use dictionaries in the outhouses down here

)

Pick up that TNT from Tom that will make a great set to illustrate what I consider the finest production knife customized and a custom knife

I love the "mountain" texturing! That's a great interpretation of your theme. Personally, I'd use it for a dress casual knife. Not too much activity, but along for the ride.

Really nice design! I particularly like how the thumb indent's shape works right into the mountains.

Custom or customized? You people who care about that can nitpick all you want. It's a beautiful knife, which is all that matters to me.

Steve

PS--How will you get to enjoy it if it sits in a drawer--CRK will always refurbish it for you...

BarnZ,

That is a beautiful job CRK did on your handle!

My only question is: Is that the original handle slab, that has been "cut and colored", or did you have to buy a new one to get it colored?

I seem to remember reading that CRK couldn't/wouldn't add "color" to old handles. I thought that old/used handle slabs were limited to "silver on gray" graphics....

Let us know! Thanks,

Michael

That is the prettiest Sebenza I have ever seen! Beautiful work. Come on BarnZ, give us more of the particulars....cost, design details, etc. Enquiring minds want to know!

That's a great looking design. I have never seen mountains done that way on a sebenza so it's quite unique indeed.

Thanks to every one for their complements and comments.

C4 - CRK did swap out the one handle side (even sent the old one back to me with the knife).

Fountainman - Under 2 bills total, including the above mentioned handle side swap out, Citrine stone inlay, and all the other sculpting and anodizing shown on the knife, along with a complete blade refurbishing (cosmetic and sharpening).

The design was totally CRK's based on my concept only per my first post above.

BarnZ

PS. Sorry about the "turd" reference, but that was my personal opinion of the "look" of the original knife I received in the trade.

That is a great looking design. The flow of the mountains along the handle really sets off the design. It also sounds like a very good deal since you now have 2 knives instead of 1.

Barn - I have to say that's probably the best decorated Sebbie I have seen to date! Congrats on that....it went from (grey) turd to terrific

Hopefully you will have this in your pocket at the Blade Show - I'd love to see it in person!
