I changed the steel type on this SOG just by grinding

It does sir, and is still plenty strong laterally, more than enough for actual knife uses.

I also rounded the apex of the thump ramp and jimping so it's no longer a thumb shredder, and rounded off where the edge terminate before the handle so it won't snag on cardboard. It cuts like a custom.
