So much for it being advertised as a strong knife. I mean they claim it can cut through rope and meat and hold 200 lbs... But they obviously didn't want to show what can happen to their blade. :grumpy:

Ok ok ok... So theres a chance that I wanted to see just how far I could push this knife. I started by stabbing into plywood and then prying. Then I tried to chop down a 4" diameter tree with it. But I couldn't get a good enough swing on it. So I went out and found a fallen oak tree and started batoning with this little thing. I ended up getting it through some of the 2-3" branches, then I used it to split the wood for firemaking. The knife exceeded my expectations, it still locked up tight. After 2 months and a ton more EDC usage as my hard use "abuse knife" I noticed the blade wasn't exactly straight any more. I bent the blade over by about 10 degrees caused by the batoning I assume. I figured no big deal Ill just bend it back. I put it on the work bench and tried using a rubber mallet, no dice. So I put it in the vice and use a piece of wood as a buffer and use a hammer, no dice. So I put the blade down on the work bench itself and hit it straight up with the hammer. It didnt move with a medium strength hit. So I ramped it up to about an 80% swing and it moved! But not enough, So I gave it another whack and my little mini just couldn't handle it. I ended up doing the shown damage.

I know that this is insane abuse to any knife never mind a little EDC folder. But I was impressed I plan to buy a new one and keeping this one in my showcase as a memorial to the little knife that could.

You really cant complain much with what you did to the knife lol. I mean with all that it still worked pretty damn well, and for the price? Not to bad in my eyes.

Yeah I'm not mad, was just joking in the first part. I plan to replace it and this time not use it like a fixed blade survival knife.

Well, look on the bright side...now you have an ultra tactical recurve tanto shark knife and a mini scalpel for those unexpected appendictis operations.

It looks like with a little work you would have a "Nightmare Grind" Mini-AK

I did something like that to my Am Lawman. Clearly should not have done it. That hollow grind is good for cutting and I'll leave it at that. It's a good knife and not too costly.

Yeah, I used to ruin cheap knives like that when I was 9 or 10. Well, not even close to that bad. LMFAO. Why, thats all I can say.. You will learn :Deventually. Next time, post it as a review so we can actually gain something from it. Im sure it was fun though.
Matt.

Cool part of your story is, you didn't even break it doing "survival" stuff. So really, it didn't let you down in the field, you kinda bashed it to pieces with a hammer :p

And +1 to all those who say sharpen that thing into a super recurve, its got plenty of life left!

Oh that's just a small chip, it will work out in a few mins and you won't ever know it was there. :D

Not bad. Would have performed better for your stated tasks if it were not hollow but convex or flat ground methinks :)

Funny post :)

Never thought I'd see AUS8 look like that. I always had the impression I could just bend the blade into a u-shape and it wouldn't snap.
