It's raining and windy. So in an attempt to occupy my time, I decided to clean a knife or two...

I don't mind a patina, but I don't want pitting either.
Nothing elaborate, just a little Brasso and a cloth.

Off to find another...
😊

Feel free to add yours.

I have always loved that knife 😍 You did an excellent job cleaning it up. Looks great!
So you know what it looked like before?
I can't see any evidence of anything having been done which is a good sign, but I don't know what needed to be cleaned up.

I don't know anything about this model, but the blade sure does look nice.

I have seen pictures before, but not in person. I think it’s a really nice model (I also don’t know much about it, but she sure is pretty). I don’t know what this specific knife looked like before cleanup, but even if it was only smudged/gunked up I think it came out great :)

Looper sheath? Flat grinds with no fullers always look classy
I purchased the knife from Craig, and he had Mike make the sheath. Oddly Craig had had it for sale for some time... I'm pretty happy with it.

Mike made some pretty impressive sheaths.
And I agree, there's something about a large flat grind knife.

I really was just posting about cleaning a knife, and started a new thread rather than resurrecting an old thread.

Here's an old pic with the knife info.

The thought of Buck possibly doing limited runs in the Custom Shop is pretty exciting. Maybe they can do some of the old knives we no longer see from them.
😎
Thanks Guys.

I thought I must have missed something because I didn't see a before picture.
Also you did a good job and nobody can tell that anything ever had to be done to it.
That's cool.
👍

I try not to store knives in sheaths because of the funk that likes to show up when you do.
Some knives it bugs me more than others.
😊

It's the chrome tanned leather that does it.
None of my knives are pristine or valuable ( my 110 almost became one ) so the easily wiped off verdigris doesn't bother me any more.

I think a custom shop run of these (or any) knives would be great, I agree. Bringing back some of the older ones, and maybe a new spin (no blade coatings, please 😁) on some of the current offerings. If these bowies went up for sale I don’t think they would last long. If they could even ever be found secondary, I also don’t think they’d last long.

I was looking at some Behring made woodcraft knives, and thought how cool it would be if Buck were to offer even a fraction of those options on something similar.

Buck has some talent in that shop capable of making some pretty cool stuff.
I'd like to see more of it.
.... Tho it would probably be priced higher than I would like.
🙁

I agree. And true there is no shortage of talent or imagination at the factory.

I hear you on the price point. I understand they are using newer materials and upgraded steels on the newer knives, but I’m a traditionalist at heart so I truly appreciate the traditional offerings in bucks basic (extremely well done) 420HC. The more modern stuff doesn’t scratch my itch. So I’m right there with you. Most are also out of my “willing to spend” price range these days as well.
