I just got it no more than a couple days ago, I wanted to do this to one for so long. It took about 10 minutes out in the garage. It is a large, BG42 blade. So here it is.

How did you do that??? Is this something anyone can easily do? Did it effect the performance in any way?

Yes and yes. I sanded a polished it. The more shine you can put on it, the brighter the color. I varied the current in a solution of TSP (trisodium Phosphate). Performance effect? I am not sure, if anything it smoothed up the action. No more gritty sand blast to mess with the pivot.;)

I have a titanium money clip anodized in gold color. Can you do this to my sebenza handles?

Not to be a wet blanket, but doesn't sanding and anodization void the CRK warranty?

Maybe this isn't a big thing. I have certainly voided the Benchmade warranty with enough knives.;)

Is this true? I don't want to void the warranty on a $300.00+ knife.

Yes. You can be sure that it voids the warranty on paper.
I had anodized a small Sebbie and showed it to Chris a couple of months ago at a show. He thought it was "nice" and didn't mention any warranty issues. Come to think of it, what do we need the warranty for? Sebbies are designed like tanks that don't break so a warranty isn't that important.

I have also added my intials to the anodizing (using a second color) and made my classic small sebbie into a custom job. It takes guts to do this to such an expensive knife!!

Hate to sound stupid, but what are you guys using to apply voltage to the knife??? How do you control the voltage to get the desired color. I really am thinking about doing this to my Mayonized Sebenza to really add some more flare to it, but I don't want to mess it up and have to send off the scales to be Bead Blasted. Any info would be appreciated. Thanks

You apply voltage with a DC power supply. The titanium is connected to the positive terminal (anode). The voltage determines the color so you need to have a variable voltage supply. The good colors require arrive between 20 and 150 volts.

Legal Disclaimer: Mixing high voltages and water is inherantly DANGEROUS. If you don't know how to do this stuff safely don't do it at all. Don't do anything stupid. End of Disclaimer.

a wonderful tool for this is an electric train control. The speed is increased by a pot that increases voltage. The one I have lists the speed and the voltage... just picture a volume knob with voltage levels instead of sound levels.

im new to sebenzas, is the finish on your blade called the stonewash finish, also what model is that the regular or the classic

This knife is a 'regular' or plain model. The finish on the blade is what is referred to as a stonewash finish. It's my favorite blade finish.

To TheBadGuy, go to google.com and do the search "how to anodize" and you will get some very creative techniques on anodizing at home.
