Might buy a lotto ticket after this mornings find. Was in my workshop and in the back corner of an old toolbox I saw.............................

Let's see the knife!

Patience.

I've been looking for this one for more than 15 years. I bought it right before by first overseas deployment. Thought for sure I had lost it. My first Buck and really the first knife I ever bought for myself. During my teens I got a U.S. Army pocket knife from my aunt when I became a Cub Scout and other than that a couple of hand me down, well worn slipjoints from my Father were the only knives I ever had until this one.

I'm guessing a 1977 110 with three smaller pins. :)

My second guess is a 1976 four pin 110.

The sheath is right for several years either side of that.

Can't get a clear photo of the stamp but it's a 2 dot. Best I recall I got it at the NEX in San Diego in early 1980. Carried it from then on until sometime around 1991 or there abouts when I started into management in the civilian world. It's got a little blade play but nothing major and the blade has seen it's share of time on a Washita stone I used to have. Had forgotten I stamped my initials on the scale. Gonna a give her a little clean up and maybe send her back to Buck for a spa treatment. Not interested in getting the blade replaced but it could use a new edge and it would be nice to get the play out of it. I'll work the sheath over some this evening but won't replace it.

I'm just pretty jazzed about this find. Been telling the wife every few months for the last fifteen years at least about how I wondered where it went? In the scheme of all things Buck it's nothing special but to this aging Vet it means an lot to have her back.

Wow that's great it finally turned up for you. I'm sure the knife was just as happy to see you again.

I'm sure it means a lot, congrats on finding it, sure wish I could find mine. Isn't it something how many of us have such positive memories of Buck from our youth.

Nice find, looks like it served you well for some years by the sheath. Get it serviced at Buck and find a place of honor in your house for it.

What a great find, congratulations. Looks like its in pretty servicable condition, too. A little TLC and she'll be good to go

Love those kind of discoveries! And obviously this baby's got some serious meaning for you! Merry Christmas early!

Thanks for all the replies. Got her cleaned up over the long weekend but still need to work on the edge. I carried this knife in 15 countries, three U.S. territories, 48 states and five Canadian provinces. Glad to have her back. Don't know why I never though about checking my old toolbox? If it wasn't on my belt it was in my dresser drawer. Guess I must have taken it off and laid it in the toolbox for some reason and then once the lift out section of the toolbox was put back in place it was hidden from view. That particular toolbox was from my construction years and not one I get into much these days for the small honey do's I typically need a tool for. Leaky faucets and such don't normally require a plumb bob or chalk line.

That is the best lost and found knife story I have heard in ages! Congratulations on finding that old friend. I bet it brought back a flood of memories.

Great find and congrats. The best part of reuniting with on old friend and travel companion is the triggering of old memories that only they share with you, may only good memories be triggered.
