Looks like a "Calabria" pattern/style of axe from Italy. The handle installs (and is removeable) like a tomahawk handle.

May have collector value on the other side of the pond but will likely be viewed only as a novelty in n. America. But then again who knows until it sells at auction? Lucky that it is stamped! See if you can find out more about the maker and the timeline of manufacture.
