Hey all,
I've always taken interest to old axes and whilst walking through my late grandfathers shed these 2 took my eye.
I plan on bringing them back to life and hanging them on my wall as a memory of him.
Does anyone know anything about these?

The bigger axe says something along the line of 'ALL AXES TOOL CO. DANDENONG'
It also says 'MADE IN.." on the other side, i can't read the location exactly but hopefully it will be clearer to read with a light sanding.

The smaller axe has a crown logo with either 'GH' or 'CH' written in it. The other side reads 'MADE IN WESTERN GERMANY' and seems to have been painted blue.

I've attached some photos, if anyone has any information i would love to hear it!

If it helps, I'm located in Victoria, Australia.

Cheers, Sam

Thanks mate, i'll get researching.
It would be interesting finding out the company who made the smaller hatchet!

I have a couple of heads made in W Germany, neither is marked like yours, but as to W german made as a whole they would be after 1950 and before 1990-ish. Of my two, one seems quite good, the other is roughly finished and the eye is bit canted. I have not done anything with either of them to be able to comment on the hardening or steel quality of either.

Thanks a lot guys, every bit helps!
Does anyone has any idea of where i could take these to get refurbished?
I would love to attempt to do it myself but having no experience whatsoever with this sort of thing i don't want to ruin such a valuable piece.

"Crown with CH" translated to German is "Krone mit CH", which is listed on this handy page of German tool trademarks:
http://www.holzwerken.de/museum/hersteller/marken.phtml
"Krone mit C.H. = Carl Helsper, Wuppertal-Küllenhahn"

Following the provided link to Carl Helsper's company website brings us to Helko:
"helko - werk, Wuppertal - Germany, Carl & Aug Helsper GmbH & Co. KG"
