I cut and dug out the elk antler made the copper ferule, forged the blade and started on the mini habaki. I still need to HT the blade, mount it, clean it up, pin it and antique the hell out of the whole thing. The of course the sheath... lots left to do but I call that a good day... Good Friday, to be exact!:p

The kids are on spring break here this week. I tried to work in the shop all day, but didn't get nearly that much done!! Awesome work Rick. Looking really good.

Whaddayameen.... that IS the WIP pic... that is the work that I processed today...

It was bad enough runniing back and forth feeding house monkies and setting up movies... I had no time to snap pics. ONE shot

Okay fine I'll change the title... lol.

Can I borrow your child sized muzzle and straight jackets! Only thing I manage to do when I have the kid is pikc up toys.

Looking good by the way!

That's certainly the fanciest thing I remember you doing so far. I may not be my favorite,
but it's certainly in the running.

If I got that much done in any day in the shop I would be very happy. Great job Rick. That looks great!

Yeah.....
The title said WIP
I want to see how you did that curled up lizard tail thingie
and the hammered copper things.

Just teasing.
Cool looking knife.

Not answering for Rick but....

The lizard tongue thingy can be done either by cutting it out with a jeweler's saw (probably not in this case) or a piercing/hot punch with a cut then draw, shape then scroll (probably considering the rounded cross section of the lizard tongue thingy.)

How I do a hammered copper ferrule, cut a strip of copper, beat the hell out of it with a ball pein hammer or use shapped punched on it... fit to handle then solder. The habaki is a bit easier, do all the texturing, use a mallet to beat, I mean form it to the blade, solder then fit with that little triangle of hell thingy. I'm Japanese and don't know the word for it but thinks it means "tiny triangle of hell."
