So after having a bad experience with a para 2 that i got from knifecenter, digi camo handles. And having them run out of stock after i got it i and the issues just being too much to be okay with it i just had them refund me. I know what most of you think just send it in for warranty, but to me having to send a NIB knife in for warranty work is unacceptable and selling the knife like that is even worse.
So after some returns to amazon and some problems with orders, waived shipping on an order and a gift card i decided... well they got a satin para 2 in stock let me get that. Do you guys think i made a wise decision giving this so highly spoken knife another chance as an edc?

I would have held onto the digi camo one, sent in to Spyderco, even if NIB.

Of course. What was the issues you were having with the first PM2?

I cant even explain it like it had up and down and side to side blade play no matter how tight or loose the pivot was. Like i mean you could tighten it to the point that it didnt open or close and it would still have side to side (idk how that's even possible). And it was like deathly uncentered in the handle you could loosen the pivot until it was about to fall out or tighten it so you cant open it and it was still touching the liner and the action was like it had cement washers.

Did you try loosening all of the screws on both sides and then retightening them from the bottom to the top? I've heard that the PM2 is pretty sensitive to that sort of change and that it fixes a lot of the issues with blade play/pivot tightness. Also, did you tighten both sides of the pivot equally?

I sent the para 2 I got from knifecenter back too. Had issues I was not okay with for a brand new $125 knife.

Atleast i know i wasnt the only one.

When it comes down to it its over 100 bucks i shouldn't have to loosen screws and adjust and all that to have an acceptable knife out of box and if it needed warranty work new in box it never should have left the factory and if they missed it the retailer should have never sent it out. They cant play like they didnt know because before i ever touched the knife there was a finger print by the opening hole so someone definitely opened it prior to me receiving it.

Definitely let us know how the new one turns out.

Yea i will, i have high hopes because this has always been a knife i wanted and had troubles finding it when i had the extra money, and you know how that goes extra money, ill wait.. hmm im hungry lets go to IHOP and get some pancakes.. Man them doughnuts look good, man this grocery shopping is getting me tired ima get a bottle of soda... and now that extra money somehow disappears.

In my mind this is like the perfect high end user knife atleast within my reach because i'm not in that point of collecting where i can justify a 500$ knife yet.

Amazon is pretty easy to deal with on customer returns but I suspect that they are a bit firmer with their vendors.
If you aren't happy with a new purchase dealing with the seller is always a good first step.
Dealing with the factory always takes longer, no matter how good their customer service is.
Oh yeah, the Paramilitary 2 is a very good production knife. Just don't expect custom quality at production prices.

I have two PM2s now, one camo/satin other black/satin. There is is a noticeable difference between the two. I dropped the camo on my carpet in the bedroom when it slipped out of my hand. It popped open....the action is very loose compared to the black one. The other thing is, the camo has a very slight raised area on the blade from spine to edge. It is in line with the Spyderco logo and can be felt when rubbing a finger over it. Almost like the grinder that finishes the blades have a wear area. The black one has it also.....but it is barely noticeable compared to the camo. Both were bought from a Spyderco dealer.

Now, I love these PM2's and find the workmanship top notch. Just saying nothing is perfect.

Nah I expect 100$ knife quality. I've had a few other 100$ knives so I expect it to compete with them. I've had some pretty poor quality expensive knives too so I definitly expect this one to be decent. I expect good lockup and a decent action, not butter over hot glass or anything like that but when I got a skyline a utilitac 2 a kershaw crown and they are all acceptably smooth I expect atleast that from this.

Cool. You weren't happy with it so you returned it, no problem, and that is the best reason for purchasing from an established and reputable seller.
I'll keep my fingers crossed for you on the next one. I've had a couple of Para 2's and they've been great.

Thanks. Me too.

So I got it and this one seems to be very nice. A little bit of issues with finish but the rest seems very nice.

So it locks up at about 50% it has a solid lockup but is a little stuff and has a little bit of resistance when closing hoping that goes away after a while of carry. The inside liners have a bit of a rough looking finish to them but I suppose that doesn't really matter the only thing I got an issue with is the lanyard tube just looks sloppily done it looks like it was finished on 300 grit sandpaper then installed with a hammer.
