Just purchased the mini Biuck Strider 881 spearpoint with the BG-42 blade. I could not figure out how to get the action smoothed out. I figured the more I worked the action would cause it to break in. Well it never did so I got out my calipers and measured the thickness of the spacers and they were .230 inches thick. I then measured the thickness of the blade plus the 3 phosphor bronze bushings, they were .240 inches thick. Each bushing was .020 thick...so I used some fine sandpaper and took one bushing to .010 thickness, so now the blade and bushings are the same thickness as the 3 spacers. Well when everything was put back together the action was as smooth as one of my Sebenzas.
Since this is one of the earlier production knives I am sot sure if this has been corrected in subsequent production runs. One way to tell if this is a problem is to measure between the liners at the lanyard hole and in the front of the pivot pin. The dimentions should be the same. If not perhaps the bushings need to be thinned a bit.
If you need any more info give me a shout and I can get some pictures to you.
Thanks
