I finished my 12th knife yesterday. It is a skinner. It's very light and feels great in the hand. I made the sheath as well. This one is being donated to my local Friends of the NRA fundraiser banquet this Friday and will go up for auction. It will be interesting to see what it brings. Comments and critique welcomed.

Specs

Blade steel: Aldo's 1084FG, differentially hardened, full flat ground
Blade dimensions: 3.75" long by 1/8" thick, hand sanded to 800x
Guard: 416SS, 1000x satin finish with the finger side polished
Handle: Stabilized (K&G) Amboyna Burl, sanded to 2500x
OAL: 9.25"

Sure looks a lot better than my #12. Very nice piece. I was never a big fan of the skinner bladeshape (don't doubt it's usefullness, just don't like the aestethics) but I do like everything else on this knife.

Sheath's nice too.

Very clean work. Good finish on all pieces, including the sheath. I do kind of wish that the NRA15 stamping was a bit more uniform... but overall, this knife looks really good.
I would not have guessed it was only #12.

Thanks very much everybody.

Erin, I'm with you. I was not a happy person that day. I decided to finish it out anyway. I usually don't have a problem stamping the numbers but I was all thumbs this time.

Really clean work.

So simple yet so elegant, nice job! I hope your fingers are okay after all that hand polishing. Im barely half way on my 1st build but my fingers can now be used as a coarse grit sand paper.

Icedtee84, haha yes my fingers are getting used to it. Thanks.

Ok, so I just got back from the auction. They set a reserve of $200. No bids. They dropped it to $100. Then the bids started trickling in until they sold it at $175. I guess I know what it's worth now. In any case, I don't think I'll be making them another knife next year. It was just the wrong crowd for a knife like that.

Thanks everybody for your kind remarks!
