I really love the Stretch I picked up from Knife Works. Wow, what a blade. :D That ZDP 189 is something!

I have to agree, seems i've been purchasing the latest models as the come out.
It also seems the Stretch is the one that holds the most pocket time, its just so darn ergonomic.

It's one of those knives that always seems to find it's way back into the pocket. Great cutter.

Agreed, and I think the carbon fiber version is one of the classiest folders Spyderco has produced.

Good choice -- the ZDP Stretch is one of the best slicers I've ever encountered. As ndeezl mentioned, if you like the FRN version, try to hunt down one of the (sadly discontinued) ZDP/Carbon Fiber ones, which IMHO is one of the best knives Spyderco has every produced.

I'm the same since I do not buy many Spyderco's. But that changed somewhat with my purchase of the Perrin PPT. It led to a Vallotton Sub-Hilt, which led to a titanium Military. I love all three of them but the Vallotton gets most of the carry time of the three. It has something about it that just makes me grin everytime I take it out of my pocket and open it.

Don't think I'm through with buying Spyderco's yet since I have my eye on the Gayle Bradley, and a couple other's.

Stretch 2 is in my opinion one of the most perfect Spydercos: practical, good cutting, good handholding, nicely balanced.

I have it (and the FRN one) and while it's very nice I would have preferred it in the smooth, beautiful CF of the Caly 3 or the woven texture of the Taiwanese Spydercos. The CF of the Stretch 2 is too much like G10 for my taste.

Yes the ZDP Stretch II is awesome! The steel alone is amazing. Put it in this package and it's game over.

I own a couple of dozen Spydys and numerous other assorted (higher quality) folders.
The CF Stretch is my favorite....It's in my pocket as I type....Pretty much stayed there for the last two years!
I have had great luck with the ZDP and oddly enough it has yet to chip on me.
Can't say the same for a couple of VG-10 blades...Though VG-10 takes a wicked edge right now (NOW!).
PZ to sharpen...ZDP-189...Not so much! :D

Hi Mannlicher,

Most of our designs are created to please our customers needs and desires. Often they are designs that have to serve a particular function or meet a legal requirement. We always use exceptional steels, but handle materials are driven by the customers' preference.

Every now and then I design a knife that is slanted towards my personal tastes. The ZDP stretch in FRN is one of those models. The CF version is flatter and easier to carry, but the shear utility and toughness of the FRN version is hard to beat, and the ZDP is an experience in itself.

I personally like a 4.0" blade, but they have become illegal in many areas. At home in the woods, I'll carry a Military or other larger blade, but while in town, 3.5" seems to be the max in my area at this time. The Caly 3.5 is another model I like, especially in ZDP (I'm testing a CF prototype).
