I was watching the "Buy It Nows" come on for a little while and spied this:

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=300481894800&ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT

I usually leave the Goldies for 110Dave (and I know nothing about them) but this one.......I don't know, my intuition just kicked in and said, "Buy."

With the fresh "Buy It Nows" you have to pull the trigger immediately so it's do it or lose it. So, I just did it.

So, I've been trying to get info on it, but it's tricky.

The Blade book just says 5000 plus were made, but apparently only some of them were finger-grooved.

I wonder if there's any way to find out how many finger-grooved models were made?

Whatever the value, it's a darn nice-looking little knife. I've been liking 112s a lot lately.

:)

Looks real nice. Are you going to take us some better pictures for next week's picture show?

BG, nice one... I been trying to get one like that... They come up on ebay alot... So I think they made lots of them... Like 5000 of them... I need that one... I like the canada ones... They came with finger grooves and US ones didn't... I like that green wood too...

Good Buy on that one... ITE ...

Nice score BG,

110Dave don't buy those girly 112's....he leaves them for Clint;).

In 1987 Buck issued two different DU gold etch 112's for Ducks Unlimited to celibate their 50th year. The USA version has no finger groves and a brass frame, with 5000+ issued, 1937-1987. The Canada issue has finger groves and a N/S frame, with 4000+ issued, 1938-1988. The handle on these has a brown wood and green wood laminate, so you can get these with a top layer of brown or green wood. IMHO the green top layer looks best.

OK......thanks, guys.

JB, you have better references than I do......where'd you find the number of Canadians made? Good work and thanks. Guess there's plenty of the finger-grooves around.....I was thinking they might be more scarce than that.

Anyhow, I like the look of it.

:)

BG,-- that is one beautiful knife. I'm glad you were able to get it. I know you can hardly wait to hold it in your hands, and admire. I guess I will have go pick up more aluminum cans and save up so if another one comes up I can get one also.--LOL. I am going to have to watch more closely. I got my 1st 3 dot 112 F/G a couple of weeks ago. NIB, and I am very proud of it.

Thanks, Bucksforus!!

Glad to hear you found one of the finger-grooved Three-Dotters, too!!!

They are hard to find.

EdBeau asked about a pic.....yeah, I will, unless there are already good pics of the Canadian model here. I'm still searching the archives for information on it. Found one picture of both American and Canadian 112s but it's not a real good one.

BG these facts are from the BCCI LE list for 1987. NS 112's are fewer than brass 112's overall and there are not many FG 112's. So is a 4000+ issue rare? No, not IMHO. The real question is how many have green handles -VS- how many have brown handles? I should also note that the as I was taking these photo's; I see that the USA has the brown/green lam wood, the CA is solid color. Let us know what yours is like when you have it BG.

Here is some photo's of the DU 112's
