I was just cruising the For Sale/Trade - Individual Forum, and I just don't get what I saw. If Emerson's knives are so crappy,
rolleyes.gif
and Microtechs are the Holy Grail of knives as some trolls have mentioned, then explain to me why there were only three or four Emerson's for sale/trade, but a BAZILLION and ONE Microtechs??

I guess the same could be said for Sebenzas, too, but to a lesser extent.

Some one please explain it too me.

Right now I'm going to go practice the left hand draw with my right hand waved CQC7B so I don't lose my jewels.

BTW, John, I traded my daily carry SOCFK for a Commander. Now it's my daily strong side street knife.

Ken Cook, thanks for posting the idea on how to carry a waved knife as a weak side back-up! What a great idea!

because people are morons.

Hey, i like MT knives. if it was a quality based concern only, i would carry a old style clip point socom.

my concern is for speed on the draw and how fast a knife can be brought into play.

Emerson knives are great knives. G-10 and titanium are fine materials. Ats 34 does the job well too.

154CM and aluminum are fine too. the MT LCC MA i had was a great knife. i would say better fit and finish than my emersons. it did not have a wave, so therefore i ditched it 2 weeks after i got it.

Emerson knives are good. others are too. But no other knives can top the wave.

I think alot of sebenzas get traded because they don't realize what a large heavy knife the large one is, and they'd rather have a small. I know I would.
And alot of the MTs you see are vectors and kestrals and weird stuff like that. Or LCC's they did not realize were thick as hell. I think alot of it has to do with the style-sure we like the materials OK that are used to build the emersons, but really what we are buying is the style of the knife and supporting a company we like.
You traded your SOCFK? Shame on you.
cheers,
DWE

MT's are great knives I don't really know why to be honest. I carry what suits me as opposed to what is hot. If MTs suit someone more power to 'em. Like I said they're great knives. Emerson Knives just work for me... Oh and the M2 AFCK. Can I say that here?

Brigadier, I wondered the same thing back when MD knives were so popular. The only knives I buy anymore are Emersons and bali songs when I can find them.

Yes, I traded my SOCFK, but for a Commander so I kept it in the family

MT makes great knives, extremely high quality stuff.

Remember that MT's marketing philosophy is different then EKI's or most other makers out there.

EKI has a catalog and with few exception, you can call up EKI or a dealer and order anything you want. From a Raven, to a Specwar, to a Commander, to a La Griffe, to a SARK, CQC7, ect, ect.

MT works more on a limited run basis. Try to order a Chameleon, or an MUDT or a HALOII, ect. These were made in short runs and are only available basically on the secondary market.

Now the "Dirty Little Secret" - in the past, MTs knives have been more "collectors" items then "users". Some of it had to do with pricing, some with the fact that a large percentage of their products are autos and in many areas, people can't legally carry them.

With the introduction of the LCC and the LUDT2001, MT has brought their price point down to a "user" level.

That having been said, I am a "dyed in the wool" Emerson carrier. Nothing brought out to date or in the foreseeable future is going to take that coveted primary side carry position.

As I've told Tony at MT, "Yea, that nice, but it can't do this" #POW# (waving Commander)

Don't tempt him John. Marfione is a genius. And if someone can possibly design something that does what the Wave does without ripping the patent off, technically, it would be Marfione.

It costs an incredible amount of money to defend patent infringement as well...

If there was money to be had in preventing people from using your ideas and patented designs, Sal Glesser would be Bill Gates.

Glad you like it Brigadier!

You've got a good point about the number of MTs and others you see for sale versus the number of EKI knives that people are willing to part with.

I'd like to think it's more than just the Wave though. Emerson's designs IMHO are SUPERB with or without the wave, the fact that you can deploy them so fast is just the icing on the cake.
