At the Pasadena show I met a man and his son (Scott and Tim Pritchard) who had a table there close to the BCCI table where I was. We found out that we lived about 60 miles apart and decided to get together at some point. Scott and Tim were supposed to go and show at the Oregon show but because of Scott's health, had to cancel.

I met with them today for lunch and Scott told me that they had received a letter from the show organization telling them that they would not be having any more shows in the future. Has anyone else heard anything along those lines?

I have not heard of anything like that about any shows. So Dave, you have two shows in your first paragraph; which show are you talking about?

I meant to say that Scott said the Oregon show would be no more. I'm wondering if he wasn't confused or I misunderstood. I recall Bruce Dollinger saying when we were in Pasadena that he didn't expect the show (Pasadena) to last much longer.

That would suck. I was planing to go to that show next year. The wife's brother lives about an hours drive from Eugene. Hope someone will have the rest of the story for us.

The more I think about it the more I think one of us got it wrong, Scott or me. From what I've heard about the sucess of the Oregon show I'm more apt to think he had to have meant the Pasadena show. I know from my own three visits to that one, that it got smaller everytime. Coupled with what Bruce said, I think it's much more likely that it's the one that will be gone.

I've put in a phone call to Scott, but he didn't answer. I left a message, so hopefully he'll call back and straigten me out.

Cool! That settles that. Either Scott had his shows confused or I misundertood.

Well, it may not be settled after all. I just got off the phone with Tim Pritchard and he assured me that it is the Oregon show he was talking about. He's mailing me a copy of the newsletter from them that announces it. I'll scan and post it here when I get it.

That would really not be cool....the Oregon show is the best Blade Show in the North West by far. Something does not seem right?

Cool, perhaps I'll get off my lazy duff and attend next year. It seems that there was some truth to the rumor but the problem has now been taken care of.

You should definitely go Dave. Its well worth it. It was easy for me before we moved, it was only 20 minutes away :D It's still only a little over two hours now.
Not sure if it still is or not, but it was billed as the biggest knife show in the U.S.

I've only been to the December "Winter" show once. A few years ago. It was terrific. $5 zippered lined folder pouches, $20 D2 K machetes, inexpensive automatics I'd never seen before and friendly knowledgeable folk at every turn. It was held in the round "chinese hat" building and the floor layout was also circular. Fewer vendors and fewer patrons. Weather weighs heavily on who shows up there that time of year. See you there.

I'm glad to hear that the show will go on. I've been attending for only 4 years and it is one of the highlites of the year for me. Great show!
