I don't know what it is about puukkos, but I like them.

Here are mine.

The one on the right is a Norwegian Brusletto, so not a puukko, but I like it too.

I’ve had others but sold them because they just don’t compare to this Pasi Hurttila. This one has had a few owners but I’ll never sell it, it’s just tooooo sweet. Hand forged K510 silver steel blade, spacers are Caribou antler.

That’s just gorgeous. Unusual with the spacers and the birch bark, too.

Jake the Pasi is gorgeous.

My odd selection.
What are the plastic-handled ones with the revolver?
The one with the paw on the sheath looks like the one I used to covet in the Brookstone catalogue.
My CS must be older or younger than yours; mine has a snapping hard plastic sheath

Pasi Hurttila
That handle reminds me of a morel mushroom.

The pukko is definitely a beautiful traditional pattern, I just don't like the " scandi grind " or the looks of their sheaths.
Some real nice examples posted.

The Finns seem less into the Scandi grind than the Norwegians and Swedes.

I can't put my finger on it either, but I like them too. I need to revisit my search for the right one for me. I got sidetracked with a couple of knives inspired by puukkos, but still haven't gotten a traditional one yet. Beautiful examples here are giving me some ideas.

The rubber handled puukko is the Varusteleka Jakkaaripuukko, pictured with its companion blade, the Skrama.

Good call on the Tapio Wirkkaala puukko, which I got out of the Brookstone catalog sometime around 1980. Before that, I had no idea what a puukko was. I really knew nothing about knives; I just thought it was a nice bit of design, worth drooling over and pretty reasonable at $35.00. It was a dandy camping knife that rode in my motorcycle tank bags for hundreds of thousands of miles.

The CS Finn Bear is a $6.95 homage to the Tapio, probably bought around 2009. The Finn Wolf is a much closer approximation of the original, from what I have seen.

One of these days, I will turn my attention to getting a real traditional puukko or two.
