I want a fixed blade, not too small or too big for every day carry. Been waiting for this becker necker to come as it seems like it might be it. But, it sounds and looks a little small. I don't need another dinky neck knife I can barely get a grip on thats too small to do anything.

What are your opionons? More of a small fixed blade then necker? Too small? Blade too short for other stuff?

UPS just dropped off my Becker necker today. I will say that it is anything but dinky, and the grip isn't bad at all. Much more functional than your usual run of the mill neck knife. The sheath also accepts the mini tek lock for belt carry. The only possible negative I could see for the necker as a primary cutting tool is that some may find the skeletonized handles a little uncomfortable for major cutting chores, but a cordwrap would easily fix that.

Blade looks kind of small. Can you post a pic or too, give me an impression of the size.

Thanks for the help!:)

I'm putting the uniform on as we speak, so I can't take a pic right now. I did put it next to my Camillus Arclite and they are approximately the same length.

I wouldn’t call it dinky either; it’s stout for its size. I have long fingers and have trouble finding a knife that fits my hand well, handles are what attracted me to the BK&T line in the first place. I can hold this knife without my fingers bunching up too much. The blade is long enough to cut through produce and a T-bone, roughly the length of the middle part of my hand. It seems stout enough to split narrow kindling, but I suspect there would be a fair amount of shock set through the metal and into one’s hand.

I guess it depends on what you intend on using it for. I know nothing about the finer points of knife fighting so I can’t comment on how it would function in that capacity, but as a field knife it is as easy to carry as a folder, but a hell of a lot tougher. I slipped it into my pocket last night when I took the dogs out to harass the local wildlife. I carried it in my back pocket and front pocket and barely knew it was there. I was a little leery of caring a sharp piece of steel on a cord around my neck, but the only way I’ve found to get the knife out of its sheath is to take it out the way it suppose to be taken out.
Hope this helps,
Allen

Could a clip be attached to it, and where do I get Tek Lok. Did a search for them..all I could find was holsters.

Aside from that, what do you think? Suck it up, and just try one out?

Angelus,
The BK11 sheath is configured to accept the Blade-tech Mini Tek-Lok. There are 2 sizes of Tek-Lok, and the "Mini" or smaller size is the one you want. They are avialible from Blade-Tech, the makers of the clip. They don't have a good page for it on their website, but the site is www.blade-tech.com . Their phone # is (253) 581-4347. Most folks just call and order them. They are not expensive. It can be used on belts up to 1.5", and the clip can be put on or taken off without removing the belt. Versitle item!

It is an outstanding knife that is going to see a lot of use from me. I bought it because it is a solid knife and I really like the ideal of no handle slabs. In my experience folders and lots of fixed blade knives are hard to clean around the handle material after skinneing game and you always have some form of residue left over. I doubt that will be the case with this knife.

Now on to the review. First are the complaints. My biggest complaint was when it arrived it was not shaving sharp. It is still very sharp but I was expecting a razor edge out of the box. Second, I find the handle to be a little short and fat for me. Because it is short I find that the can opener/ wire cutter aggitates my hand which will pose a problem on extended use. Because it is so wide around the handle it makes it more difficult for smaller hands to do small chores like peeling potatoes. Lastly, I would have liked to seen the blade be a little thinner. The thickness of the blade makes it a little harder to slice stuff thinly. You can still slice stuff up small but it just feels weird.

On to the good. This knife only weighs 2.5 ounces (according to the flyer that came with it). It is made of high carbon steel so it will last forever and maintain a good edge. It seems to do better at chopping motions than slicing motions. Just give a flick of the wrist and it will cut through anything. It has already seen action peeling / slicing potatoes and carrotts, cubing steak and other kitchen chores. I am completely happy with this knife and I would recomend it to any one. One word of advice, Keep it away from your significant other or you may find yourself purchasing more of them in the future.
If you want to see the photos of it then click the link and follow the becker necker link.

Thanks! youre pics have been really helpful. Looks exactly what I've been looking for now that I can see how it looks in the hand!

Off to go order one now!

Unless you NEED a (small) neck-knife, I'd suggest the BK10 Crewman.

Cause I already got the BK-10. Want something with more compact ,and smaller but with Becker quality and toughness.

Just placed my order....now the wait...

That's the toughest part. ;)

I'm glad someone put some pictures up. I'm not very good at taking pictures.

I wore the BK-11 last night on duty. I can tell that its going to be a constant companion while I'm at work.

yeah pics like that help the most. Showing how it looks in the hand. Its either a small belt knife, or one really big neck knife. Looks good for me.

The wait sucks. Everytime now I'm thinking "Going this place...wish I had it now........on my way to..wish I had it to take with me."

My wife got tired of hearing I cant wait until they release the necker or if my necker were here I would be able to....

Its a great all around knife and it is my favorite small knife. My BK 9 is still my favorite overall knife.
