I don't have a large collection by any means but amongst the 20-or-so knives I have, Spydies take up half with a few ESSE's in there and before today I only had one Benchmade (551 Griptilian). The rest are low end SOG's and some old Schrade pocket knives, just to illustrate my collection in a nutshell.

Today I went to my local knife shop and picked up a Benchmade Waddell's Bone Collecor with the gree/black g-10 and a plain blade. This knife has a very special feel in my hands that I can't explain. I have held CRK's and Striders and seen their fit and finish and I realize what they bring to the table as far as being in the "tops" category but I feel like this knife and many other BM's have their places right along side those knives as far as their capabilities and build quality. The word 'solid' just rings in my head when I hold this thing. The milling on the g-10 is impeccable and the blade is dead centered and pretty sharp. I like how the g-10 has a denser and harder feel to it compared to a lot of Spyderco's g-10, not that I don't like theirs. I feel that the milled ridges and contouring are necessary as a result of the smoother g-10 but 'wow' are the grip and ergos amazing. The blade swings very smoothly, almost on a Manix 2 level but not quite, and is very solid with no play.

Before today, it was a tie between the Military and Manix 2 for my favorite knife but I'm not so sure anymore. I really love this thing. Guess I'm gonna have to get one of the new walnut handled ones.

Knives are worse than crack!:D

Isn't it great getting a knife that is really high quality and meets your needs perfectly? Congrats. Now go buy some more. :p

I have the large one and love it. It is a hefty handful and that is the way I like them to be. I think it is one of Benchmades hidden gems.:thumbup::)

BM's Rift is on my short list...that and the Bone Collector are beautiful knives.

Absolutely, getting this made me take a second look at the Rift, putting it on my short list as well.

I'm pretty much enamored with this Bone Collector. To me, it feels like a $200 plus knife.

I'm also excited because I have an s90v CF Para 2 being held for me until my tax return clears. I have read much good about s90v and especially the Para 2.

Party on Wayne!!!

I agree with all of you. I picked up a 950 rift and a large Bone Collector within the last couple of months. They are both great knives. The blade profiles are perfect and I love the AXIS lock. I find myself EDC'ing the Rift more because it's handle profile is slimmer and seems to fit my pocket better - most of the time I forget that it is there.

The BC is seeing use in outdoor/farm tasks. The beefy handle is great for use with gloves on and skinning/cleaning animals. Love these knives!

Yea, I am considering buying Bone Collector too. I have got BM520 and believe it a really strong solid folder. But it has some disadvantages from my point of view - like the handle is a bit too havy. And it is also quite rough with my trousers - if I put the knife under my belt or in the poket fixing it with the clip, which I always do. And the blade looks a bit small. I think BC has all the advantabes of 520 without having the weaknesses. So it is very high on my To Buy list...

First of all, to answer cutter's question: I got the regular one. I'm not usually partial to the mini models of knives as I have good sized meat claws.

If your main complaint with the Presidio is that it's too heavy than the Bone Collector isn't your choice. To me, it feels just as heavy. Knife weights have never been an issue for me. I don't ever notice the difference between having a Delica in my pocket and having a Bone Collector.

The Bone Collector, with it's smooth (gorgeous) g-10 does slide in and out of the pocket a little easier than the Presidio, that's for sure.

You should just buy one simply because they exist and they're awesome!

I agree, they are awesome, although, I seem to be partial to anything with an Axis lock... I will say that the Bone Collector made very quick work of the last deer I skinned out.

As your collection grows - the difficulty becomes trying to decide which one to carry that day.

I sometimes have 2-3 on me over the weekend.

It's pretty bad.

As far as weight goes between the Bone Collector and the Presidio;

Both are the large models;

Bone collector- 5.59 ounces

Presidio- 6.26 ounces

Not a lot of difference between the two. For folks who like the BC handle, but prefer the Presidio's blade, it is possible to interchange the two, and get the "best" of both worlds.

I've only read where this switch was done, and have not done it myself.:thumbup::)
