I don't like IKE

Looks like a dead President's going to be blowing through good ol' East Podunk tomorrow night. If the current forecasts are to be believed, the storm surge might be enough to overtop the Galveston seawall and the Port Arthur/mid-county levy system. It's gonna be interesting I tell you what.

Fortunately, I had the foresight to head out to Spec's this morning to restock my depleted hurricane supplies. Remy VSOP, The Macallan (12YO), Buffalo Trace, and Tito's, plus a goodly supply of Old Peculiar, Dos Equis (amber), and Lone Star ('cause after the storm, it's going to be hot as hell and the power will almost certainly be out).

I'll bet a MNFBM would come in handy for the cleanup work. Maybe next time.

Hunker down boys. This one's got a bead on ya. We'll be thinking about you.

i'm in Huntsville, thankfully about 100 miles inland, hopefully it'll lose some steam by the time it gets here in the morning.

things are already busy around here as people get out of houston (3 years ago with rita, our litlle town of 40k went to 250k overnight with evacuated houstonians!)

we'll see what happens...

Hunker down you....

sorry thats a GA thing.

God Bless you . I pray its not as mean as the Real "IKE".

Yeah, stay safe man. I'm praying this storm isn't as bad as the news is making it out to be. Galveston's looking like it's in big trouble, all right.

I've been following this on Direct-TV all day, and it looks like it's going to be a BEAR. Prayers from Indiana for everyone facing Mother Nature's wrath!
Please stay safe!

Best wishes to you John, and everyone else in the path of Ike. Looks like you are well stocked for a Hurricane Party.

Hang in there, my brutha. Don't go outside during the chaos, no matter how bad the curiosity is bugging you.

we're okay in Huntsville, but that's about 100 miles inland from galveston. i know galveston got slammed, houston got it pretty bad, but we did okay up here.

power will be down for a while, but thankfully cell phone reception came back up last night. and the Good Lord gave us a cool front to help endure the power outage, it's actually pleasant temperature wise today (much different than rita 3 years ago!)

loads of cleanup to do with all the downed trees, but that just takes time and a little infi...

thanks for all the prayers, this one could have been much worse!

Ike was not kind. Here in East Pudunk, they're saying the power might be out for a month or more. Mercifully, a clod front moved through today, so it is almost pleasant with the windows open. That's a far cry from Rita, there we had similar power outages, but mercilessly jot weather.

I have a generator powering the refrigerator and a TV (and a computer, at the moment), but gas is hard to come by, so it's run only as needed.
