I don't suppose it's possible to get a blade upgrade from the factory?

I've got a Feb-07 440A Leek that's just been sitting on my desk for a year or so now, because the steel just kind of... I have knives with steels that work better for what I need now :D

The physical condition of the blade is kind of meh... I'd imagine Kershaw would replace it anyway, but I wondered, maybe I could send along a check for the difference in MSRP between this knife and perhaps the composite CPM-D2 knife, and have them throw one of those blades on my handle? There's something shaking inside my handle, which I don't think should be happening, (although the AO still works fine) so either way I have reason to send it in if I was gonna carry it on a regular basis.

Thomas, is this something you guys do?

Thanks

_habit_, it doesn't sound like your knife is defective, at least from how I interpret your above post, it more sounds like you feel you're missing out on some of our new technology. With that said, we don't "upgrade" folks to a new knife just because there has been some advancements.

Now if you have a legit warranty issue and want to upgrade, I believe Warranty will allow you to pay a price for the difference.

I have a torsion bar in my G-10 Leek that rattles like a maniac....is that typical, or should i remove it and put a lateral curve in it to prevent the spring from moving?

No J, the rattle is normal for a torsion bar. I wouldn't recommend toying with how the spring is bent. If it bothers you that much, you could always use a little grease in the torsion bar cavity to solidify things in there a bit and cut down on the rattle. Be aware though, that there are those who believe this slows down speedsafe performance just a bit. Personally, I don't think so, but everyone has their own opinions.

You just need to find out what's right for you. Good luck.:D

Agree with Jon here. I always re-lube the torsion bar cavity when I
take an AO all the way down to clean and lube the pivot area.
It hasn't slowed any of mine down that I can tell.
I use a dab of Slick 50 bearing grease(it's what i have on hand) and
it works like a charm.

I understand. :)

Perhaps I'll just carry it as is... no point in just leaving the knife sitting there :D

Thank you!
