HI Guys

I Have a German Cat knife, the blade is stamped stainless which doesn't tell me much. Anyway I've been trying to strop this baby now it doesn't feel sharp but it will shave hair off my arm easily but the blade whenyou feel it doesn't fell sharp. I don't understand...

Could someone Please explane this to me.

The more polished an edge, the smoother the edge, so it won't feel sharp, it will feel smooth. It's also possible you rounded it some when stropping.

What do you mean "it doesn't feel sharp"? When I test for sharpness, I touch the edge of the blade to the back of a fingernail. If it sticks in place, it's very sharp, if it slides off, it isn't, and so on.
 
As mentioned a highly polished edge, one that stropping produces, will not feel very sharp when running your fingers over the edge (sometimes).

I showed my dad a new knife with M4 steel that I had stropped a few weeks ago and he said 'you must not have sharpened it yet' after feeling the edge with his fingers. I told him I had and to cut some hair and he pressed it to his arm and you could see hairs go flying as they popped off.

Push cutting paper, shaving hair, and how the blade catches a nail should all show how sharp it is.
