About a year after I joined BF I bought my first CRK, a zaan. I bought a classic,(traded it for another CRK) and a couple of more CRKs that I still have.

I've bought and traded for knives that I like Much better. The CRKs, except for the zaan, seem kind of boring compared to some of my other knives.

I have a few customs, 3 that cost less than my CRKs. I like much better. They get used and carried quite often. Alan Davis makes a Great knife. They get better and better too.

I know CRKs are a very well made knife but I like bigger well made tactical knives now than I did when I bought my CRKs.

Anyone else feel the same way about CRK or am in the minority...................

you did it now! jk. I would like one but for what I do they seem a little too ..nice. I'm talking drops on pavement from high places possibly, dirt and dust in the pivots, very high probability of scratches, etc.

I bought an Umnumzaan; sent it to the Spa for love and cleaning.
Got it back soon thereafter. It's very nice. It sits in the box.
In case I decide to sell it, I don't want to carry it and perhaps scratch it up.
I still think it's a great knife, and wish I didn't have to use two hands to close the blade, but I've accepted that part. Not really a big thing. I still think that Chris Reeve designed that knife to be closed with two hands. Otherwise, the lock blade would be designed more like the Sebbie, instead of just a fingernail cutout. Doesn't make much difference either way, I suppose.
I am very gentle with my EDC's; retired and don't cut much of anything.
My EDC is my old BenchMade 690, which I've had a long time. My other ANIB knives sit in a box, looking pretty. Customs have not yet come my way, although I can appreciate them. Seem to be stuck on PM2's and Military models in good steels right now.
So, yes, the Umnum is nice appearing and I really like the blade-shape. It's not boring, but my PM2's probably slice better. I do think that the Sebenzas are rather plain, although owners love 'em. Probably because they can operate them with one hand. :)

I guess I have owned just shy of 20 Sebenzas. Have a regular large and a regular small that are unique, have them set aside and use other knives. Saving them for my kids I guess, just know I prefer to carry and use other folders.

I carry and use my Umnumzaan every so often. My Lg Micarta Sebenza gets some pocket time too. I'm really wanting to get a Lg Regular, some day.

I don't think I'll get rid of my small 21 because it took me a while to get it and it is indeed a collection anchor. I do carry it and don't worry about marks and such. Just took it apart at work today and marveled at the simplicity.

For many it's a hobby of change and for some a hobby of constant change. I've seen people proclaim their "Grail" only to see it on the trade/sell block a week later. There are a few knives that seem to carry the luster longer than others for sure and those knives tend to be pretty basic yet high quality. The last few years we've seen knives with little but color change come out one after another and they are more like a rush and leave a person itching again rather fast. Add the latest super steel and the itch is a little farther between. I've traded or sold off any folder made outside the USA in the last few months. My choice and I don't see it as "missing out" but rather guiding my hobby in a challenging way.

Probably just a personal use thing. I carry whichever knife I feel would be best suited for my planned day. My Sebenza is more of a soft use knife, I pamper it even though they are more then capable for hard use.

Your probably like most of us knife addicts "collectors". There will always be another one that catches your eye, need/want who cares it's your $$$ :)

I don't own one, and no doubt they are very well made knives, but they are kind of plain and boring IMHO. I'm glad everyone else enjoys theirs.
