Ok, so you guys finally convinced me. I just ordered a BK5 Magnum Camp based on the all the glowing reviews here. My first Camillius! Thought it was going to be either a BK7 or BK9, but seeing as how they will be aroung a mite longer, I jumped at the BK5.
Found it for under 60 at a mailorder place that everyone loves to hate. They have always treated me well , though...

My Bk-5 has arrived!
First impressions:
Wow, it's big. Pic's don't do it justice.
Becker handles are thiiiiick. Not bad mind you, just thicker than what I'm used too.
Slices very well for a large blade. Does not chop well up front do to blade design. Stabs better than some smaller blades I own.
Blade is thinner than some of the blades of similar size.
Sheath is cool. I call it semi-fitted. The blade can be placed in edge foward or edge back. Clever design for a blade with a pronounced curve.
Hmmm...might make my choice of "only one blade"...

Man, what a knife! Now I know what people mean when they say this is a well designed knife. Believe it or not, this will find a home in my kitchen. I just gotta find a source for food grade mineral oil. I'm dismayed that the general knife buying public didn't get "it" with this knife. I'm telling everybody who will listen for even a half second to snatch up one of these before it is too late. Maybe Camillus/Becker will reconsider their decision about it's fate. At least keep the ability to make more if need be. I plan to use this knife alot... told my wife that we need to BBQ a pig or something so I can do alot of carving!
I'm interested in hearing from those that have the Fisk convex edge put on theirs. I may send mine to Mr. Fisk and have it done if enough people rave.

Got mine today! and I am impressed! This is a piece of serious hardware and scary sharp out of the box too!
Lucky for the trees in the vicinity I had to do something else today, otherwise I would have been out chopping something down for sure!:)
It just begs to be (ab)used!
And I can only regret like the rest of you that this knife is being discontinued - a shame that it didn't catch on with other customers.
