During a break in the weather, went to the antique pavillion on the lake. Here's a tiny Utica jack that I wouldn't have bought if it hadn't been Utica, a Shumate Razor Co St Louis, and the pretty thing in question, a Norvell of St Louis with a broken blade.
If I understood and retain what Codger 64 told me in BLR's forum, it's probably by Kastor Bros, probably between 1902 and 1915. I'm a sucker for art nouveau; maybe I really am an effete aesthete.

Saunders Norvell was the president of the Shapleigh Hardware Company starting about 1900 to I think maybe 1915, during that time it was the Norvell Shapleigh Hardware Company.

They are most famous for the Diamond edge and Keen Kutter lines of knives and tools, but they had several different lines, these guys were huge in the hardware industry.

Great find.

Thanks, guys.
I'm amazed how some people can keep all that hardware dynasty information straight.

I'm in St. Louis, so it's local history, even did a report on Shapleigh in grade school. You can only hand in the same report on Charles Lindbergh so many times ;)
