I feel like an idiot- why can't I email forum members?

I joined yesterday... Hey everyone.

I sent a few emails to some users in the exchange.

I login today and there is no email or IM buttons.

Am I missing something? Do I need to post more to prove I'm not a spammer?

Help.

Your sent emails go directly to the person's outside email (email client, gmail, etc.). Their replies will be sent directly to your outside email. You can use visitor messages if you'd like to send and receive responses on site or upgrade your membership for PM capabilities.

I dont have permission to access my notifications - and there is no "email user" presented in any user profiles. It's like I've been banned, with read only access...

Okay, try this. Click here and scroll down to "Messaging and Notifications". If the box next to "Receive Email from Other Members" isn't ticked, tick it and see if that changes anything. Also make sure "Visitor Messaging" is enabled further down.

The software acts funky sometimes and switches things for no apparent reason. No clue why, but it's switched stuff around on me before as well.
