I filled my first Spydie roll!:thumbsup:

I know some of you are thinking...lol

But I started my Spydie journey way back in 2018 when the silly shenanigans at the Canadian boarder first started happening. Fearing not being able to soon buy a Spyderco, I wanted one really good classic example like a Endura. But I instead purchased a PM2 and that's where the I caught the disease in a good way. :D

At first I told myself I only needed my PM2...lies

Then I bought my second because I think it was on sale. And again told myself I have more then I'd ever need and don't need another...Lies yet again.

I told myself there's too many Spyderco models out there. Don't waste your time on the same model but different steels etc....Again filthy lies.

I watched vids on youtube where guys had 20 some spyderco's, and told myself never to be that"Crazy" as you could never use that many... I just couldn't seem to be honest with myself.

Last fall I was pretty satisfied with around 15 or so. In fact I had given a few away to family members. But then I bought the Spydie Roll!! And I've been OBSESSED with filling it with only Spyderco's. And today it finally happened

I know it might sound silly but I feel like I've hit a milestone. I know not to lie to myself any longer and accept that there's still lots out there I'm going to collect.

...been there, and it was fun...had PM2 collection and Millies and Striders and CRK's and ZT's..and then
custom fixed blades in addition.
Always had well over 100 folders and fifty fixed in the safe...and stopped counting.
There were days when I had three in the mail coming in...and I loved it. But...it was harmful as
I paid little attention to my finances, bought on high-interest credit, and I came very close to crashing.
I survived by selling nearly all of it, but was/am happy when my obsession was gone. The pressure
went away, and I could breathe again. My marriage also survived, but it was touchy for a long time.
Only a few of the better examples are now with me, and I'm quite satisfied.
I can only advise to buy no more than you can afford to pay for, and that's really quite universal.
Good luck to all my friends...

Congrats!

. . . and this is in no means intended to rain on your parade but I have filled 8 small Spydie pacs (because that's what will fit in my safe) with over 130 Spyders of all types in them. Not including the 8 fixed blades that occupy some Benchmade Brag-bag sleeves or are just lying in some cardboard boxes because they won't fit elsewhere.

Something to look forward doing yourself. :)

I also have one SpydieRoll of Spydercos.

Although I also have SpydieRolls of non-Spydercos, and non-SpydieRoll Spydercos.
Plus there's one free space in that roll, which I'm hoping to fill shortly.

Isn't that the amazing thing about spyderco? Two people with spydie rolls 30 knives each. And the collection is at least 75% different from each other.

That's it? SOME people have full sized cedar lined cabinets filled with rolls and fixed blades!:p

OP - congrats! At one point I think I had 7 Militaries, nearly 10 PM2s, and a bunch of Manix 2, Delica, and Endura. I have since reduced my Spyderco collection (now still have 3 Millies, 2 PM2s, 2 Delicas, and 1 Police 4). I have realized it does not work much for me to continue to chase all the limited runs and put them into my case to collect dust. I think the advice given by Sonnydaze Sonnydaze above is a wise one. But again, I guess most of us will have to go through this process.

Thanks man! It's hard but I try to give all my knives a little pocket time. The little ones are my "office knives" and then I keep one of the bigger ones in my jacket for my wilderness walks etc. Personally, I'm a single guy with no kids so a little indulgence here and there isn't going to put the bank account in the red. I used to know a few guys that would go out and drink one or two spyderco's worth in one weekend lol. It's all about priorities in life imho.

Maybe the best thing I ever did was taking credit cards out of the wallet for target practice with my .45, twenty five years ago. Haven't had one since. :)

Nice blades. How do you like your Shaman? It may be my next purchase.

I really like it and I haven't met anyone unhappy with theirs. Imho It feels a bit larger then your avg Spyderco like the Pm2. So you will have to like larger knives. But it has this great sturdy can handle anything feeling.

In times like these a great knife is a great investment!
Yes..a great knife is a great investment as long as you own it and use it daily, and it segues into a partnership.
I suppose this is controversial...Knives are a great investment, in times like these, IF AND ONLY IF...you are content to take a 30% loss when selling...
At least, this has been my experience...having sold several hundred knives.

Welcome to the hobby/addiction :D
Good job :thumbsup::cool: Congrats !
Also if it makes you feel any better I always say to my myself this is my last knife purchase for a while and then ...........

You have to stick to exclusives or sprint runs to break even or stay a little a head of the game . But we all know this doesn’t happen because we love them all !!
