Well I finally think I have gotten my CQC sharp. Came dull as a butter knife. After a couple of hours with my Lansky and some judicious use of a small med. and fine stone it will now shave hair. Still kind of confused about the bevel though. How come it is only on one side and how come it is so wide. I would have thought a 30 deg bevel was steep but on the CQC it is pretty fat thus creating a wider cantled edge. I like this knife so much that I just bought a Mach 1 of the same config. SF and plain edge. Used but never been carried or used so new to me. Keep'em sharp

Longbow:

Good to hear everything's coming together. My first EKI blade was also a CQC model ( 98 CQC-7b SFS). Again, as I have said many times before when posts like this come up....Go try a 'waved' model! Be forewarned, your wallet will be sorry! ;)

Hi,neighbor! Listen it was just this summer when I got a CQC7A myself
.I had a hard time myself, sharpmaker freehand, gatco clamp with diamond hones, stropping, nothing seemed to work.Well I finally clamped it in the gatco at its highest setting which is 29 degrees, the edge is set at 30 degrees but they seemed to be off by much more.

I went to town with the coarse diamond, got a hell of a burr, took it down through fine, than white spyderco stick.sharp as hell now,and easy to touch up.I changed the angle some but now it lines up great with my clamp and hone.

btw I dressed out a 5 point with it this season:D .I hunt with a wheelbow but i had a friend from out west who is a stick man come back to hunt this year.I hunt Webster, all around Creekside gun shop(wifes family owns 2,000 acre farm)and just got a new spot in Farmington. How 'bout you?
