After having wanted a RAT knife for quite some time, I finally made my first purchase today! I went with the H.E.S.T after looking around on here quite a bit, It is basically a No-Nonsense blade that I can carry every day and it has stuff that actually will get used! Not to mention it's got a bottle opener! haha, I am sure I will be very happy when I get it, Now I just need the Leather Sheath I have seen for it floating around on the forum! How do you guys like your H.E.S.T's for EDC?
 
To say that I'm seriously loving the HEST for edc is an understatement. In the few days I've owned mine I've already done a lot with it. The handle fits my 4-1/8" hands perfectly and the blade size and thickness is more than adequate. You did good, buddy!
 
Thanks! I was somewhat worried about the pry bar being something I may not use and possibly being a pain to carry, but I am sure I will get some use out of it and i Would like to get a leather sheath that can carry both vertical and horizontal!
 
Mine is only a few days new also.

I think it makes a great fixed blade for EDC. :)
 
The more you carry it....
the more it's "right there" when you need something...
the uses you'll find for the HEST. :)
 
The HEST is a great blade. My only issue has been finding a proper way to carry it. I'm leery of necking it due to the prybar and it doesn't ride too comfortably on the hip (it rides too high.)

There's a guy on this forum, I forget his username, but he makes an amazing leather sheath for the Knife, looks like it will ride a bit lower than with the kydex sheath that it comes with it and From what i was reading you can get it so the sheath has the option to be carried vertical or horizontal. I am gonna look around for that quick, and i will post a link.

Its just a fancy looking bottle opener. Just happens to have an edge :p

I am just really tired of breaking and bending cheap folding knives. I would carry my Cold Steel Master Hunter if it had just a little bit smaller blade, that is by far my favorite knife I own, I have really high hopes for the HEST! If it impresses me enough I may have to get another RAT made knife... :)
 
For now this is how I carry. Using the stock sheath I simply stick it in my right front pocket. I have the cord stop about 1.5" from the end of the 550 and it sits between the Kydex and the pocket lip. It keeps the sheath, and therefore the handle too, up out of the pocket enough to just grab the handle. For now it works but I'd like to rig something up like Bud Nealy's system.
 
If you have seen the new little belt/boot clip for the Izula then stay tuned for the same thing for the HEST soon. Mike
