I finally found a ZT 0302 (LNIB) and it only took a couple of days to make me sad... I carried it clipped inside my Carhart jeans front pocket all weekend long and I noticed Monday that it was wearing a hole inside my pocket. The serrations along the top of the blade are like saw teeth (thumb contact area). They are really sharp and crisp. *It looks like everytime I pull it out of my pocket, it cuts away a little more jean material... I bought it to carry it and not as a safe-queen, etc. I'm not sure what the best thing to do is. Has anyone else had this problem?? And NO, the solution isn't to give it to you...ha,ha...

Are you carrying it tip up or down? I carry mine tip down, front right pocket and have never had an issue.

Perhaps knock-off the edges with a fine ceramic rod? I haven't heard of this problem before, but I can see how the 0302 would do that.

It sounds like I'm carrying it the same as you are. Maybe my pocket is tighter. It definately is rubbing against my pocket and grabbing (or sawing) as I pull it out of my pocket. Part of the wear could even be while it's in my pocket. Since I bought it as a EDC and not for resale, slightly deburring the edges may be a solution. I hate to do it though.

That would be my solution.

I don't experience your problem with my 302. Not sure why, as I carry it quite a bit. But now I'll keep an eye open for it.

Something's up if it's eating Carharts. Tip up you should be GTG. Be careful with the coating if you do decide to smooth it out.

Carhartts? Dang. I've never had any issues with my carhartts getting eaten by knives. But I carry in my back pocket or if I'm wearing bibs I carry in a chest pocket.

I'm not even sure why I checked the inside of my pocket but I'm glad I did. The pocket clip seemed really tight and it's been hard to pull it out of my pocket. I guess that I was looking to see if it was catching on something. I'm wondering if the edges around the serrations are sharper than normal. My hands are definately not baby soft and these edges still feel like saw teeth. As a side note, besides fitting great those Carharts have more belt loops than my Levis. That helps support my IAW holster when I carry one of my Sigs.

You could try getting hold of a G&G Hawk Grip Clip, definitely reduces the wear from inserting and pulling the knife out.

It sounds like those edges just weren't rounded off by the factory before it shipped out. Not a big deal, the ceramic rod (or pretty much anything hard enough, coffee cup, sand paper, or even a coarser sharpener {although this might make the knife less pretty.}) could fix it right up.

This is how I carry mine and have never experienced a problem. I wear Jeans, Shorts, Carhartt's, etc. Never had a problem with pants getting torn up. Especially Carhartt's.

I only have two ZT knives. That 0302 and a 0350. I looked at the 0350 and it has nice rounded edges vs the sharp, crisp edges of that 0302 (in that thumb area). Is it normal for a 0302 to have those sharp, crisp edges or was it supposed to be rounded, deburred, etc?

Sorry, it was either buy a macro lens or a new knife...I guess that I should have wiped the Carhart fibers off before the pics...

The clip is on the Ti side attached near the blades pivot. I prefer to carry tip-down. (it's setup the same as the one in your picture above.)

I just don't get it then. I clip mine in my jeans and go, I don't have it right up against the seam though. Never have had a problem with it. Maybe you could shift it to TI side tip up?

I would do what knivesandguns said, and also bend out the pocket clip a bit. my 0200 has loosening up a bit after 6 months of almost daily carry, but i still habe a pair of jean's whose pocket is worn down about a half inch from being shredded. i don't really care, but i can see why that might be a problem.

They do look a little sharp compared to the one I got. Just gently file the edges down to your liking and throw some cold blue on any exposed metal and you should be GTG.
