This is old news to everyone but somewhat new news to me. I'm a pretty big knife guy. I have a pretty nice collection of knives that consist of many high end knives. I've read so many great reviews regarding ESEE knives and always planned on getting one, but my other interests took priority. I got my first ESEE today and it is an Izula. Long story short, love at first sight. I had relatively high expectations for it considering all the hype, but when I first unsheathed it, I was blown away.
Although I read the specs on it and have seen it in countless youtube reviews, it was still much smaller than I expected and I like it. In the review vids, it just looks bigger than it actually is. The camera plays tricks on the eyes. i wondered how people could carry a fixed blade in sheath in a pocket. Now I get it.
I understood to a degree that a small fixed blade in 1095 that's tough could be appealing, but I didn't get why it could be preferred over a folder. Now I get it. I don't hear fit and finish when described a FB very often but the Izula has excellent fit and finish. The blade is razor sharp out of the box. I've never had a knife with a paracord wrapped handle, but once I wrapped it in a basketweave with OD cord, it looks awesome. I have thousands of dollars of knives, but few actually exceed my expectations when I get them and get to handle them. The Izula is one of those knives. The knife is perfect, the sheath is pretty perfect; it locks up very tight but not too tight and is the right size and has mounting options.
I don't know the opposite of buyer's remorse but this is it. Well done ESEE.
